Alison Brie to Star in Netflix Wrestling Comedy 'GLOW' From Jenji Kohan

The Netflix series marks the in-demand actress' latest TV role since 'Community' and 'BoJack Horseman.'

Alison Brie is hopping into Netflix's wrestling ring.

The Community and BoJack Horseman favorite has booked the starring role in the streaming giant's Jenji Kohan comedy GLOW, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

GLOW — aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling — is inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. The 10-episode comedy is set in Los Angeles and will showcase big hair and body slams and tell the fictionalized story of an out of work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers. The comedy is based on the professional women's wrestling syndicated TV series that existed in the '80s. The comedy was picked up to series in May.

Holy ****, Alison Brie starring in a dramedy about pro wrestling. The universe just divided by zero. I am watching the hell out of this.

I hope it works out I liked the original G.L.O.W.

This is going to be glorious. I love wrestling and Alison Brie (and wouldn't mind wrestling Alison Brie).

Oh lord, this sounds fantastic. I can already seen Brie in the role and it is glorious.

Marc Maron To Co-Star In Netflix Comedy Series ‘G.L.O.W

Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, G.L.O.W. was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. Set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams, the series tells the fictionalized story of Ruth (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling via a weekly series about female wrestlers. Maron will play Sam Sylvia, a washed-up Hollywood director who has a very complicated history with women — and now must lead 14 of them on the journey to wrestling stardom.

Holy ****, now Marc Maron, one of the best comedians alive today, is playing the proxy to David McLain? This show is really going gangbusters.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. — Lands Job on ‘GLOW’ Netflix Comedy Series
The stars of Netflix‘s new GLOW series won’t start filming the show without any experience in the ring … The Sheet has learned they’re getting trained by Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Multiple sources confirm that Chavo was recently hired as the show’s wrestling coordinator and he’ll be helping the actors acquire basic ring knowledge before the first taping this month.

In case you missed it, the show will star Marc Maron and Alison Brie in the lead roles. The series is inspired by the all-female wrestling company from the ’80s called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

FUN FACT: Chavo’s uncle Mando Guerrero was the wrestling trainer for GLOW’s original run.

I cant wait to see this.

I hope Chavo Jr. gets to play Mando or the equivalent character, even if it is a minor role.

Nah man let him play Kerwin White. :o

NO NO NO!! We never speak about that atrocity of an angle, ever.

Why not?

That barely covers anything.

Love the hair.

I almost don't recognize Alison dressed down in frumpy 1980s clothing. I am really looking forward to this show.
