The Dark Knight Going to Chicago...

You would think someone who lives near a metropolitan area would take a little pride in it. I guess I was wrong. I live in NYC and I love it but I'm interested in seeing other cities.

That's a gorgeous view of the skyline, DesertBat. I might just do that. I already see the buildings I want to see.

Only someone who's never been to either would say that.
I obviously havent been to either of them. Well Chicago looks pretty glorious to my eyes just like NY. I think that it probably has the second busiest skyline after NY and i also like the macho look of it. Well, from the movies and pics of it that i ve seen that is.

Anyone care to talk about it? I am also interested about LA and San Francisco. Somebody told me that LA is just a huge village with a handful of skyscrapers in the middle. Is this really the case?

Well, there are so many areas of LA, and there isn't one true unifying city. There's West LA, Hollywood, East LA, etc. And it takes you at least 20 minutes to drive to any of them. :funny:

What's annoying is that "downtown" (ie Hollywood if you're referring to the interesting parts of LA) is so far removed from any freeways, it's hell to drive to.

LA is a weird town because its almost as if they didn't plan it to be THAT big. Everything is a little disjointed, it's always super busy. It's great if you're single, but I don't know if I want to raise my family there (maybe if I had a mansion or something..or in the Valley)

I'm from Orange County, and I love Hollywood the most, along with Santa Monica!

Go up Sears, and you have that nice pano shot. Looks like the Prewitt Building (Trump) is just about finished.

I took a similar shot too from the Sears Tower.

I've been to Chicago, and hands down, it's a beautiful modern-looking city. And the people are cool too.

I'd have to agree. There isn't much yard space to begin with, and I dunno if I'd trust my kids to be safe playing in the yard anyway! :funny: I grew up on the east coast, where we had a HUGE yard and I honestly couldn't imagine growing up any other way.

I was an extra last year. Mainly down Randolph is where my scene was filmed.

actually, it's the LaSalle Theater between State and Dearborn streets on Monroe. I was there when they shot it, and use to work at 55 E. Monroe.:hehe:

Um sorry to refute you as well. But there's a Jamaba Juice in the background of Maggie Gyllenhaal AND the Gene Siskel center. CLEARLY it is State St. The LaSalle Theatre has a business building in front of it. My friend lives right next to it. Here is a screen cap of the film and a goggle map of the location.

There's one linked with Google Maps but this site is pretty good: http://www.movie-locations.com/movies/d/DarkKnight.html

I was in Chicago in September and while I was there had a similar agenda, I wound up going to Monroe/LaSalle to see the Wayne Enterprises building at street level. The Joker's Starbucks was under construction haha.

and you are absolutely right!! D'oh!! after seeing it again for the like billionth time, :hehe: i saw the Siskel theater right between Harv and Rach! you'd think after so many views it would be easy to ingest every single shot!! and the one scene i saw? Mr. Oldman was standing outside the old Berghoff Rest. thats when Mr. Nolan walked right by me, twice!!! had to change shorts that day!:wow:

get some good pics on street level for us Manipers to use as backgrounds!!!!

I've been to Chicago about 5 times to visit friends. The architecture is sometimes breathtaking, but the city does have a strangely 'empty' feel to it, in a way places like New York or Philly don't at all...

I'm just wondering if Chicago has a district for young people. I didn't see it, or I missed it. A place where there are venue for concerts and shows. Bars for..bar hopping. Coffee shops and vintage clothes shops.

For example, LA has Hollywood, Los Felis, Silver Lake and Echo Park.

New York has Greenwich Village, amongst other places.

So I ended up not going because I asked several people at the airport how long it would take to get downtown and they said 45 minutes to an hour and I needed to take a shuttle or something. The time was cutting it too close and in the end decided it was better to stay in the airport (despite how absolutely boring it was).

Plus someone mentioned in here, I wouldn't be getting the full experience of going around the city in an hour so I will come back to the Windy City and see everything without being on a time limit. I will still take everyone suggestions the next time I go.

Well, I was bored to death waiting at the airport but I think I made the right decision. There were too many things that could've gone wrong which might've led to me missing my flight home. However, I am determined to come back to Chicago and get a proper tour of the city and enjoy my time there.
