"And while we're on that subject...Batman vs. Al Qaeda! It might as well be Bin Laden vs. King Kong! Or how about the sinister Al Qaeda mastermind up against a hungry Hannibal Lecter! For all the good it's likely to do. Cheering on a fictional character as he beats up fictionalized terrorists seems like a decadent indulgence when real terrorists are killing real people in the real world. I'd be so much more impressed if Frank Miller gave up all this graphic novel nonsense, joined the Army and, with a howl of undying hate, rushed headlong onto the front lines with the young soldiers who are actually risking life and limb 'vs' Al Qaeda."

Wow. Owned. I guess. Although, comics have been used as a way of expressing social issue in the past.

I think I have to agree with Grant. Batman vs. Al Qaeda never seemed like a good idea to me.

Oh, I think it will be pretty cool. But in a "Snakes on a Plane" kind of way. A ridiculous concept taken very seriously and full of big action sequences = very very fun.

The guys on a local radio station were commenting about Batman vs. Osama today.
They said it was stupid, and it goes against what Batman is about.

True, Frank Miller on a whole seems to have fallen off as a writer (Dark Knight Strikes Back, All-Star Batman and Robin)

Well, it's stupid, but how does it go against what Batman's about?

Here's their reason "Batman is supposed to fight goons, a crazy villian, and then do the crazy villians girlfriend after he thwarted the villians plans." I think they don't really know what Batman is about actually.

Their only experience is with Batman is DKR where Batman essentially was one of them (a terrorist that is)

Morrison is an egotistical fool, the DC version of Bendis.

Bendis thinks he has been sent here on earth by God to write comics.

Morrisson may have been.

Except he knows how to write good superhero comics.

But, what if Morrison is such a terrible writer that our minds trick us into thinking he's the god of weird, trippy philisophical concepts and over the top action just to insure our sanity remains intact? :o

Then his writing would be awesome, because it could do that....?

"My name ish Wayne. Broosh Wayne."

Sorry, that guy described James Bond, not Batman.

well, despite some of bendis' work...his run on daredevil was nothing short of genius and one of the best damn superhero comics on the shelf for the five years he was writing it.

Superman fought Hitler during WW2.

How is this any different?

I kind of agree with Grant -- this entire concept is just horrifyingly ridiculous and absurd and borderline offensive -- but on the other hand, it's not as if real world social commentary has absolutely no place in comics. Superheroes fighting evil Nazis and the like is a time-honored tradition in this business, after all; almost every hero that existed in that era, from Wonder Woman to Namor, have fought real world wartime enemies.

I do have to agree that this sort of thing has no place in Batman's world, of course.

i thought it was illeagal to own another human being?
