Grant Morrison OWNS Frank Miller

What we need is a website for comic artists and a seperate one for comics writers akin to www.kittenwar.com

It would be interesting to see how creators rank.

BTW I have to agree with Shadowboxer, even when I was a kid and couldn't grasp the complexities of racism(ah, the good ol' days) I knew something didn't feel right about the whole thing. I just didn't really get the feeling the X-Men were really striving for something like Blacks during the civil rights movement. Xavier wanted everyone to coexist in peace and everything but thats a very abstract goal compared to one of equal rights and an end to violence. Blacks had to work so hard and make so many sacrifices to get all they have now. Mutants haven't been fighting against non-mutants, they've been fighting each other. After all these years what have they gained? I feel like in order for the X-Men to truly have a purpose you'd have to start taking away whats most important to them. Then they would have something to fight for.

Also, Allstar Batman and Robin would be nothing without Jim drawing it.

I'm sorry but this is where I have to cut in.
1) The X-Men are ALLEGORIES for oppressed people in society. That means their struggle reflects the struggle of the poor, ethnic minorities, alternative sexuality, alternative religion, physically handicapped and etc. They are struggling with something about THEM which they cannot fully control. Their story fully reflects society's response to something different from status quo.
2) Where Morrison succeeds is in taking any character and getting to the core of what they're all about. With "New X-Men" he explored today's society rather than the racially tense one of Stan Lee's day. Yes, today IS different and it would be. These days you'd have people wanting to be like mutants, taking MGH, going to predominantly mutant clubs, etc. Just like you have people who...well...I won't get into that because EVERYONE knows what I'm talking about. The same thing goes the other way around too, there are mutants who try to fit in as best they can. It works for some but not for others.

Finally, in my mind Morrison is better than Miller. Miller writes amazing comics and I love his style because I very rarely have that taste satisfied, but overall Morrison is the better graphic storyteller. Think about his latest issues of Batman. He's reminding us of exactly WHO Bruce Wayne is. I don't know if anyone else noticed this (or if I'm just late on the uptake), but there was a total shift there which had taken place. Where Bruce Wayne was once a billionaire posing as Batman, it is now Batman pretending to be Bruce Wayne. He's actually TRYING not to speak like he does when he's Batman and also trying to be more trusting.

Besides, if they only fought mutants I'd like to know where the FoH, Sentinels, the MRA, Stryker, X-Cutioner, and their other HUMAN (sourced) rogues came from.
