i think the trailer only showed the opening. the opening is supposed to be a 17 minute long take.

Doesn't the movie has like less than 200 shots or something ? So yeah , this wont fall into normal storytelling that audiences maybe are used to it.

This will probably be a great moody technique based movie.

The trailer is probably the only scene with some action , so they could sell it a little bit more easily.

That wouldn't surprise me at all, you can already tell it's not going to be this sci-fi epic.

I just read. 156 shots. So yeah , its going to be a heavily technique sort of project.

I just popped my dvd collection of Planetes. It's episode 16. During a solar flare he gets lost and completely adrift through space. He survives but gets spatial disorder. I always loved this episode. Fantastic show by the way.

Just because a movie has a small number of shots doesn't mean that there isn't a huge amount of VFX.
Don't forget the lenght of the shot is more important in this case not osu much the number.
For example wire removal in martial arts sequences can amount to 10 or so shots . Aof exploding building with many CG elements all happening in one take is one shot.

Where did i say that ? We were talking about what specifically this movie will be about , and how it will progress.

I actually like the idea of Cuaron, Blomkamp, and Kosinski working on a movie together.

Because maybe then Kosinski can learn how to make a good movie.:o

people laughed at this trailer when i saw gatsby

At a certain part of it, or just in general when it finished?

I could see people laughing awkwardly near the end as Sandra floats away silently.

If there has been a script leak and you know the answer please dont reply.

The characters in the film as we know seem to be in a situation where the likelihood of them surviving seems very very slim.. how ever if they are to survive how do you think it will happen?

Bullock has different space suits on in different parts of the trailer. Its not all from the beginning.

200 shots? I don't understand how you can make a featured film with 200 shots.

The same way he had "one shot" sequences in Children of Men. Creative filming set ups, digital cameras and extensive editing.

Its likely they went that rout in parts, but I wouldn't doubt that they filmed parts of it with the actors in suits.

Float pass by another orbiting space station and hope for the best.

This trailer was pretty awesome!

Really ? Why is that ? A lot of directors advocate cutting only when strictly necessary.

There's also big current (maybe its more of an european thing) that compose cinema almost as filming live theatre.

There is so many ways you can look at the art of simply capturing pictures. Here is a site where you can check some movies with a small number of shots
http://www.cinemetrics.lv/ . It's nothing particularly groundbreaking.

My theater also snickered at the end of the teaser. There were a lot of "wtf" looks throughout it, and at the end it seemed like people weren't taking it seriously. I can see it being a niche film, but apparently the people in my city can't handle it.

Saw the trailer in 3D with Man of Steel

oh.
my.
god.

It is when almost every shot of your film includes a lot of movement and effects.
