Green Lantern reboot cast... do you like my picks?

Not that this would ever happen. I mean, some of these casting ideas are complete wishful thinking. I'm just curious to know what you guys think of it.

I like your picks for the characters that didn't already appear (and speak) in the first film. We don't need a reboot to have Morena Baccarin as Katma Tui, Zach Galifianakis voicing G'Nort, Willem Dafoe voicing Salaak, Terence Stamp voicing some stand out Guardian such as Appa Ali Apsa or Ganthet, Common as John Stewart and James Earl Jones as Legion. I like Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Michael Clarke Duncan voicing Kilowog, Geoffrey Rush voicing Tomar-Re, Taika Waititi as Thomas Kalmaku, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Jay Sanders as Carl Ferris and Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur. I'd much rather see sequels moving forward than a reboot covering Hal Jordan's origin again. As Bruce Timm has said, "We’ve already done the origin story in New Frontier and First Flight, and the live-action movie itself is his origin story, so people know Hal Jordan's origin story and we don't have to waste time with it yet again."

All I'd do is keep the current cast and retcon the story a bit. Just start the next movie off with Sinestro (Mark Strong) training Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). The only thing that needs to be referenced is Hal Jordan's origin. Where I'd retcon it a bit is re-introduce the concept of a "fear ring", maybe just have it be an artifact whose origin isn't openly discussed. Then maybe have Hal Jordan and Sinestro on a mission to track down Atrocitus on Earth. Hal and Sinestro have a ton of back and forth on Earth. Then have a fight between Sinestro and Atrocitus where he kind of pushes Sinestro to the "dark side", blah, blah, blah and Sinestro emerges as the big bad of the film. I'd also introduce the concept of the yellow impurity.

I think the best way, as I say, would be to pay some respect to the continuity but re-establish and rewrite some of the mythos.

Good picks, but a complete reboot is a bad idea,imo. Better to do a soft reboot, a tonal shift that doesn't require the first film. Think Wrath of Khan (successful) and less The Incredible Hulk (not necessarily that successful).

The story doesn't have to do a lot. Start off with Sinestro, legendary GL and mentor friend of Hal going bad, and unleashing the Manhunters against the Green Lantern Corps, or perhaps teaming up with the Weaponer and getting the Sinestro Corps against them. Plenty of action, with all the pathos occuring between action, almost like a war movie. Lots of practical effects to keep it grounded.

Common isn't really a good actor, imho. Much better to have someone like Michael Jai White or Lee Thompson Young, depending on if you're going more military or more architect. But kudos on Morena as Katma and such.

Clancy's normal voice sounds nothing like his Parallax voice, nor his Lex Luthor voice, nor his Mr. Krabs voice.

Anyway, some interesting choices there, but not sure a reboot is the answer, especially so soon.
