LMAO. I guess I missed that memo.

Agreed. This was a lame comment from a pathetic, ditsy journalist. Americans (and journalists for trashy gossip magazines) need to get over themselves. Having said this, I do think Paltrow's statement was uncalled-for.

I'm going to dump her f'ing tea into the harbor. :cmad:

I agree with alot of comments here saying every culture has it's good points and bad points.

After all, the UK have chavs and the US don't.

But the US has several interesting things that are unique to their culture. Other western nations don't say or do things that are said and done in the US.

Example - those Hell House places (is that what it's called?). Y'know, those places run by Christians were they try to scare the crap out of ya by showing fake bloody abortions and actors pretending to be burning in hell for being gay and stuff like that. I mean, what the hell?? And Jack Chick, you have Jack Chick. And Bill O'Reilly. I don't think the UK has an equivelant. And you have anti-abortionists that kill doctors and televangelists and all sorts of crazy crap. The US has several culturally unique stuff.

Every nation in the world has people that make everyone else embarrased that they live in the same country as them.

Example- Ann Coulter

Isn't she American?

At least we have better teeth.

Speaking for my own country and things that embarrass us, I can think of a few.

Ian Paisley is an embarrassment. Though if you ask some people, he's a hero. Or if you ask others, he's a "traiter" simply because he MIGHT finally sit down with Sinn Fein. Ian Paisley is a bigot and when it comes to politics, he's an unmoving rock. The man refuses to give an inch - which is simotaniously why he is hated by some and loved by others.

That nut case Michael Stone is an embarrassment. If some of you missed my thread about him, you missed some exciting news footage of his assassination attempt against Jerry Adams just weeks ago.

But the thing is, men like Ian Paisley and Michael Stone are a dying bread. They represent the old days. Ann Coulter isn't half the age of the dinasour that is Ian Paisley.

Is this the thread where we list all the people we want to give away to other countries? "Country Draft" kind of like Dave Chappelle's Race draft? Here's mine:

Madona (previously said... worth saying again)
Michael Jackson
O J Simpson
Paris Hilton
Half of the Democratic Party (the really far left half)
Half of the Republican Pary (the really far right half)
...And just about everyone else I don't like

Wow, Americans are sensitive. :whatever: All she did was state her opinion about her prefered country and these two talking heads discuss it as if she's commiting treason. Does anyone really give a **** about what Ashlan Gorse from "Life & Style Weekly" has to say anyhow? Should anyone really care about what Gwyneth Paltrow says? No. But the fact that the news is making a fuss about it is what ends up giving Paltrow's comments any power or validity in the first place. Once again, the media makes a joke of itself.

Woot another star going political down, a few thousand to go.

I seriously feel bad for the Brittish on this one, we still haven't formally apologized for Madonna going over there, and now another star goes there.

Joking aside tho this is almost like someone quitting something on the internet like an mmorpg (video game you pay to play) or someone leaving a chat board for good. Before they go they make the biggest stink they can and insult what their leaving behind.---EDITED [THIS IS WITH SOME PPL NOT MYSELF AS I AM NOT A FAN OF HERS AS I HAVE SAID] END OF EDIT --- Except this is real life and Gwyneth may end up losing some of her fanbase (tho it didn't seem like an incredibly large one), which will hurt her career atleast somewhat. If someone doesn't like or agree with a country then fine just leave it's a personal choice, but no need to insult the intelligence of those you're leaving behind.

This is a big reason I dislike Hollywood. To me stars work for us, we pay them to entertain us, we stop liking their movies, or in Tom Cruise's case the actor themself, we stop going and they make less cash. I personally don't care to hear a star rant on politics on TV or on a country in general. That's what the biased media is for :woot:. We all have opinions, and I just never understood why stars think we value theirs more than anyone elses. This is home to me good or bad, we have our high points and low points like anywhere else, and while there are some things I disagree with I'm not going to get cameras to film me saying them for the world to hear.

EDITED SO IT DOESN'T DERAIL THE THREAD ANYMORE -

------A JOKE - [JOKE]Oh well, not a huge deal, it just makes me less inclined to watch her mov...oh nm I don't watch movies with her in them in the first place lol.[/JOKE] END OF JOKE------

If this happened, they would be sort of proving her right.

I don't base my movie watching on the actions or words of celebrities. If I did, I would never see a movie again.

If Gwyneth makes a movie I'm interested in seeing, I'll watch it.

LOL. You lost the war of 1812. Canada, France and Britain whooped your asses and burned down the Whitehouse (which was brown at that time and called something different). "The bombs bursting in air" in your national anthem were their bombs.:oldrazz:

I agree with you. I don't wanna start an US verse UK debate but I don't see the big deal about a "celebrity" having not so great opinion about America causes such offence. The same with the dixie chicks. Paltrow said some stuff about british dating, how all the guys are not like Hugh Grant and how much the uk suked a couple years ago and no one gave that much intrest.

I am just curious why americans get really defensive when the United States gets criticized.

Sheesh no one can take a joke, that last part was kidding around. There are ppl tho that base what they watch on actors tho, some ppl flock to Johnny Depp movies, some stay away from movies if an actor ticked them off.

I'm not much of a movie guy anymore, most movies don't seem to interest me in the least. I never cared for Gwyneth movies, but this hasn't influenced me in the bit because if it's a good looking movie I will watch it. I'm just turned off by Hollywood in general. It's very rare an actor draws me to or away from a movie anymore.

Bah..nm not worth explaining. The only things I wasn't joking about (thought it was self-explanitory) was about Hollywood actors making a huge deal before moving to another country, and about disliking actors going majorly political like Ben Affleck when he was dating Kerry's daughters and all or when they act like their voice is more important than the average persons in political matters.

Yes because that paragraph was in seriousness. I swear some ppl like to argue about anything lol. You can't say you're being serious, then later on a few paragraphs later make a joke? Or do I have to do a "[JOKE] [/JOKE]" from now on? It's honestly not worth talking about, I made a joke about not watching her movies, for some reason you took it as some serious big deal, it's really not something worth derailing the thread over....

I find the fact she said that English people are smarter then people from the US.

I live in this England and you know what I heard a girl who is taking her GCSE's say?

"Whats a skyscraper?" :whatever: I also conveniced people that I was going to see Kurt Cobain.

Yes the UK DOES have smarter people in it dosen't it? :whatever:

yeah, you're right.....aw man, I forgot to add [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] :csad:

I don't think it's a big deal. I don't pay attention to actors or actresses when they're not in a movie.
