I remember that many people from hollywood had aproached Valve about adapting their Half-Life franchise to the big screen

And Quentin Tarantino was one of those guys, unfortunatelly Valve said that all the scripts they received sucked and missed the point of Half-Life.

They were also interested in adapting it themselves, and their Team Fortress 2 meet the team shorts were also them trying to do something like that themselves.

Considering how they work they will probably take some time until they even begin to follow that idea, i decided to start this thread to discuss how it should be adapted to work.

I normally don't like casting characters but since Christopher Walken has been many times mentioned as a fan favourite to play G Man i decided to offer a different possibility which i also find more suited for the role.

Bill Nighty for G Man

I just think he suits G Man's aspect, voice and manerisms better.

Whad do you all think of an Half-Life movie?

I'd love a Half-Life movie, if done right - it would be amazing.

Yup... if done right. Since I don't expect that from Hollywood I'm fine with there not being a movie and glad that Valve has turned down offers. Now give me HL3 dammit! :cmad:

At the time they were smart, i doubt a good Half-Life movie would have been made at the time, even with Quentin Tarantino aboard, now i think that they're just waiting for a good film based on a video game to see if the product can be of quality.

I think that they should use the story of the original game, much can be made with that idea, could turn out as a kind of cross between Prometheus and District 9, with a little bit of Fringe.

There is no way in hell Quentin Tarantino should be allowed anywhere near a Half-Life movie.

The Purchase brothers were making Half-Life 2 inspired short films. Whatever came of those?

I'm surprised a Half-Life movie hasn't been made by now.

Seems like Valve has been strict with their properties, in the 90s it was probably a good thing, Uwe Boll may have ended up getting the rights. I don't see how Quentin Tarantino is a bad choice, when he makes a genre film he follows that genre, in the 90s he was trying to get into some science fiction projects without success, he made a treatment for Half-Life, Iron Man and the Silver Surfer.

Now i doubt he's still interested in doing anything like this, but we don't know what he's planing to do after Kill Bill vol.3.

Valve has said that they wanted to make the film themselves, but at their speed i fear that we may only see an adaptation of Half-Life in more 10 years from now. I hope that Bill Nighty is cast as G-Man though, his voice projection is perfect for the character.

I think the Half Life movie has already been done. It was called Children of Men and it was awesome.

half-life and children of men are nothing alike.

he's too old.

gordon was in his late twenties during black mesa.
