I think these are the two biggest titles being released this year. Which will be the bigger better game and sell more? I've got my money on Smash Bros.

I have both Halo 2 and Smash Bros. 2

I think Halo 3 will sell more, at least in the first few months after release, but I'm looking forward to Smash Bros. Brawl a lot more.

This is the oddest "vs." match ever. For once, I don't know what to say. :(

The ideal solution would be for Microsoft and Nintendo to make up and make Master Chief a playable fighter in Brawl. :)

Microsoft's already giving the DS some of it's IPs. Viva Pinata, Banjo, MechAssault, et cetera...

Nintendo is the one who should start easing up.

They have no reason to, do they? The Wii's still performing like the Second Coming to video games, and the DS is doing remarkably well, too.

Smash Bros.! That game is going to be huge.

I never really got into Halo. Actually I haven't really found a FPS I liked since the N64 days. They are all so complicated now.

Console sales goes to the Wii, but game sales goes to the 360. Not to say that Nintendo's games would sell well on the MS platform (they'd tank) but it takes two to tango. MS makes money off the DS.

You're looking for Serious Sam and Painkiller.

Nintendo makes money off of it too. It's not like MS gets to be on the DS for free.

I imagine Nintendo might get a boost on some games, like Metroid Prime, if it were on the 360. That's just a straight-up FPS, and the 360 loves those. Still, I don't think porting their games or characters over to the 360 would really make Nintendo much money.

This is actually quite tough. The user base of the Wii will be higher than the 360's by then, but Halo is Halo. I go with Halo if I had to bet. Microsoft will move the most software this year and get a pretty penny from publishing everything they do this year. Nintendo will move consoles like crazy. Next year, wow that will be interesting. What do you guys think will happen next year?

...WTF? You actually have a vs match with a fighting game vs a first person shooter? That's like comparing apples and pizza...sure, they're both food, but come on, they arent comparable because they're so different. This is stupid.

You can still compare them in terms of sales. In terms of gameplay, etc - no.

You can compare them in terms of personal preference and anticipation, too.

The trend continues, and eventually publishers see once again that the games that sell on Nintendo's consoles are Nintendo games, and that their money is better spent on 360/PS3 games... eventually this generation becomes what every generation for a Nintendo system has been since the N64: Dried up 3rd Party support and months (a year) between good releases.

This time they will of course have the marketshare pinned, but marketshare is only appealing to Publishers for as long as it means the games sell the best.

This time they've got the hook of the Wii's control interface going for them, at least. If their system could render anything higher than 480p, I imagine that might entice some FPS fans. Unfortunately, it can't. :o

Melee is way over 6 million (maybe 6.5 million) if I can remember. The original was maybe a mill or so less (give or take). Judging by past history and the fact that Halo 3 has well over FOUR MILLION preorders, it really seems as though Halo might even beat this game by the millions. However, the install base for the Wii is totally different. Who knows how these casual fans will react?

But...neither of those makes one game better than the other. Thats what the poll is asking, "What is the better game?". Sales figures has nothing to do with it either. The gameplay is totally different as well.

"Better" is pretty subjective. Usually it does come down to personal taste on a lot of things.

Well the Wii has the marketshare and third party sales base in Japan, so you can count on continued Japanese support. 3rd Parties are having some of the better overall third party sales since the PS2 boom era.

Corpulent- Um what? There are games that are better than others because of better gameplay, graphics, innovation, etc. Personal opinion is different. These two games are so different from each other that comparing the two really isn't fair to either one of them.

There are also games that are technically better than others but not as fun, and the ultimate point of any game is entertainment. That's where the personal biases come in.

Last time I checked, the Wii only had eight titles that passed the "million sold" mark, whereas the Xbox360 has about 20.
