According to a few online resources (and a guy on CBR who called my attention to this in the first place), the release date of "Detective Comics #27" was supposedly May 27, 1939. As we should all remember, the cover story in that one was a little thing called "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate."
Which makes this the 70th Birthday of a great man, a clever detective, a bold crusader against crime, a mentor to many other young people who want to do the right thing, a real hero . . .

Of course, that means it's also the birthday of that obscure pointy-eared freak who is often seen in Jim's presence, but what the heck, let's be generous! Let's wish him a happy birthday too!
