Transformers Harry potter forces early TF release!

ComingSoon.net has learned that Warner Bros. Pictures has moved up Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix two days, from Friday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 11. This will give the movie a potential big five-day opening, from Wednesday through Sunday.

The move also cuts into Transformers' reign at the box office, with the Michael Bay-directed film opening on July 4, just seven days before.

Man. It's like a game of chess. I can definately see TF being pushed up to the 3rd now (which Bay was talking about a cpl of weeks ago).

So TF is gonna be sandwiched in between Die Hard and Potter. Not good.

It's all my daughter and fiance care about. I don't like the Potter movies much either (especially the first one... which I thought sucked)........... but the Prisoner of Askaban one was VERY GOOD imho.

Harry Potter movies have consistently performed very well. This movie will make at least 250 and most likely more. Timing the movie releases along with the book releases only assures hype and box office. Transformers WILL have a tough time against it but I'm sure that repeat viewership will be in Transformers favor due to the fun factor and summer popcorn draw. The new HP might be too heavy and dark for repeat viewings IMO.

Exactly, that's one thing I hated about recent HP films. I loved the first two films, but after that it just got too gothic for me. Just really dark magic, I liked the light magic that Chris Columbus brought to it more.

But, yeah Transformers definitely has that summer fun feel. You are with your friends and you just want to stop by the movie theaters for a fun time, what would you rather see a cool film with mother fckin robots or dark sorcerers fighting? I'd opt for the Optimus Prime.

HP may look like a threat- but, hey POTC3 was considered *lol* a threat to SM3's record... look how well that seemed to have turned out.

I'm with him. /\ Transformers can kick Harry Potter all the way down to the bottom of the list. I view Potter as the POTC3 to Transformer's SM3.

I'm gonna see both, no matter how long of a period there is between their openings. If Transformers opened on July 4th, and Harry Potter on July 5, I would still see them both in the same weekend.
