The sad thing is there are probably at least ten times as many of these instances we don't hear about because they actually don't usually get caught.

The sad part is, they will probably hook up with the White Supremacists that are in the jail system and be protected form any kind of repercussions. I doubt there will be any kind of jailhouse justice.

That's so ignorant. Hate crime in general is pointless. You'd think by now people will realize white or black we're all the same.

I'm guessing that they are examining whether or not they can prove intent to kill for the other teens. Either that or they are turning state evidence against Rice in order to receive a reduced sentence.

While what they're saying is technically true, it's not usually a hate crime which this is without a doubt. That is the major difference. This isn't just a crime against someone, it's a crime against a race. It was done solely because he was different to them. I am assuming that those others involved will be charged as soon as there is enough evidence to do so without them getting away with it.

And my first thought was that I hoped Mississippi would be beyond this by now but I also realized that if it was going to happen anywhere it probably would be Mississippi where they still have a lot of racial tension.

This will never end so long as there are people who use race as a defining characteristic of other people to catagorize them. Unfortunately it won't disappear any time soon, if ever.
