Sounds, like it's a spinoff rather than a reboot

Well this does not bode well for the question of whether HBO Max would be retaining HBO's "prestige" factor in its original programming, lol.

EDIT: changing the title of the thread to reflect that.

Goddammit, I’m kind of feeling this.

It definitely feels expensive but everyone seems a bit to cool for school. I'll definitely watch though.

My 30 year old ass doesn’t need to be sitting here catching feelings for actors playing high schoolers on TV, but until they stop casting 25 year olds, here is right where I’m going to be.

Wait who will be the new Gossip Girl who turned out to be a guy...

Making it any of the core group seemed kind of dumb considering the massive quantities of tea being spilled about each and every one of them.

Should’ve been like some rando one-episode character back from S1 and have all the cast not even remember their name. But I’m sure the audience would’ve hated that too.

Neither of them being GG makes that much sense but I do prefer it being Dan over Nate.

Also I’m ready to drop the influencer off a cliff.

Which is to say… reasonably accurate portrayal.

I came, I watched, I was enthralled by KBells voice all over again....and that was the best part of this pilot.

No charm, our new Gossip Girl is....a choice to say the least...especially given everyone's ages in the show.

I don’t really find it any more or less engaging than the original series. Neither should leave the viewer saying anything other than “**** these rich kids.”

At the very least, there’s no way they’re going to pull as problematic a move as making a guy who attempted rape in the first episode into the hero of the show.

Yeah that always was so WTF to me. It was like the producers tried to sweep the whole thing under the rug (kinda like Westwick has in real life about his own multiple accusations of rape).

I think the OGs came across as slightly more human than this crew.

That one, I’ll give you. You need to balance Blair out with Serena. This one seems to have about four Blairs and the one nice girl is a little bit more of a Jenny…

It's funny because most of the actors on these shows find it weird that they are playing teenagers as well.

Ben McKenzie who was in teen show The OC talked on Michael Rosenblum's podcast about how weird himself and Adam Brody found it playing teenagers as post college twenty somethings. Rosenblum said the Smallville guys felt the same and some of the Riverdale guys have also about it.

It’s weird that so many shows continue to do this. I get that it’s probably easier to find better actors in the mid to late 20s range but it still takes the audience out of it a bit when a guy walks onscreen who obviously isn’t a high school kid. At least shows like Euphoria and Never Have I Ever feature actors who are a bit closer to the ages they are playing.

EDIT: Okay, just looked up the ages of the casts of those two shows and it’s a bit of a mixed bag, lol. Most of the cast members are in there early 20s which isn’t too bad but others are in their late 20s/early 30s lol.

I haven't seen the reboot yet. The original Gossip Girl had a great 1st season... the rest sucked. Time will tell if this series is going to take a different route. The shorter episode order should help.

xoxo

Here the teachers are either younger as the students or to old lol. The actor who went to school with the OGs is like 37? They graduated in 09?

The main teacher is literally three years younger than the queen bee of the kids group.

I didn’t really think about it at the time when it aired but on Smallville, Lex was around 24 years old when the show started and he was hanging out with a bunch of 14 year olds lol.
