Tuttle or whomever has been mixing chemicals with Reggie(the chemist). Kinda tragic to find out just what said drugs do.

I think he wants to fake his death. If life is just a flat circle and he wants to tie it off then he has to die. But he wants to move on to the next thing and since he doesn't believe in an afterlife the only way he can move on is for Rust to die so he can become something else. Start a new circle, cheat death.

i was expecting a little more to go down tonight, expected more to be revealed....guess i'll have to wait till next week. they got a lot of ground to cover...

I feel the same man. Still was a good episode.

Funny, I hadn't noticed his face much the first time they showed him and neither did Rust because he never reacted even when he was talking right at the guy. :(

If you re-watch the scene in episode 3, he has a scraggly beard covering most of his lower face and the one time he turns his head (briefly) and the scars are visible is when Marty honked the horn getting Rust to turn.

Sherriff Tate

As seen in Episode 1. In this scene he identifies Ted Childress as the previous Sherriff in that area, mentions that Childress had been the one to dismiss Marie Fontenot's missing persons report, and says that Childress is now up in Gulf Shores (a small coastal city in south-western Alabama).
Errol Childress

As seen mowing the Light of the Way property in Episode 3.

As seen as the end of Episode 7 - note the extensive scarring on his lower face, clearly visible in this image.

One of these two men is an Officer Childress, clearly connected with the Tuttle/Childress clan in some way.

I'm about to rewatch all the episodes. It blows my mind how dense this story really is in only 7 episodes so far

How many Ledoux's got mentioned in the last episode? :funny: Louisiana must be populated with them. :o

I've loved every second of this series but the whole chubby groundskeeper Willie reveal was a tad bit on the unintentionally comical side.

So how did Rust not notice the scars? He's so observant.

Like StrainedEyes said he had something of a scraggly beard going on at the time. The scars were mainly visible when both he and Rust turned to Marty when he hit the horn.

So, yeah.

Woody doesn't have that underbite in everything does he? That **** is fierce. He looks like he constantly has some dip in his bottom lip

Yeah, i found that "My family's been here a long time" line after the cops drove off to be rather unnecessary and kinda cheesy. but whatever.

BTW, someone else made a point of it, but did they ever address the weird doll scene with Marty's daughter? I recall someone making a point about Marty's step-father, but I don't remember the details.

This show along with House of Cards and Banshee are my favourite shows at present. It's a golden age for tv which is in many ways replacing cinema. Some great writers now working in tv. The cinematograph in True Detective is spectacular.

Game of Cards?

What is that a fantasy political thriller tv show?

The Walking Empire is way better.
