So my head was turning to the mystery of this show, & I got to thinking that Marty throughout the series has been shot with a lot of Yellow.

I have a new theory. Cohle is the man with the scars, & Marty is the yellow king. Cohle has a split personality disorder & Marty knows it. Thats why Marty can be extremely protective of Cohle at times.

Cohle's obsession with solving the case is his True personality trying to "heal" himself, or redeem himself. Cohle's dominant personality is the True Detective.

I also think that Maggie was molested by her dad, & he also molested the oldest daughter. That is why she drew those pictures, & grew up so rebellious.
