How about James Wood and Jon Voight? They were awesome together on Ray Donovan…..

^Nice

There is a little bit of Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror in this as well after the last episode.

I've spent way too much time reading theories on the Family tree and sprawl of this. But they've been doing this for a few generations easily.

They've made a public example out of Dora Lang in 1995 and the 2012 victim. Outside of that. Everything else is very hush hush.

I'm currently reading 'The King in Yellow' and to say it's bat **** insane and unnerving is an understatement.

This Chambers guy must have been fun at parties.

Ya know what I think? Networks are gonna be clamoring to copy the success of this show. Conclusion? More anthology shows are on the horizon. With American Horror Story and now this, I think we are seeing a kind of shift in the tv landscape. I think it's getting harder for people to keep up with shows with long, drawn out story arcs and anthology series can provide compacted yet still potentially brilliant stories that are all that more accessible

Keaton and Goldblum would be f***in incredible.

i was thinking that. but, both keaton and goldblum are pretty quirky dudes. as a duo, there'd be too much quirk. keaton alongside a strong female type would be rad.

5 years ago, would anyone here think either Woody or Matthew would be doing something as serious as True Detective? Back then you had both of them doing quirky comedies. Keaton looks like he's willing to do some more serious roles and Goldblum..well it's Goldblum, he's always a surprise. I could definitely see it.

How about Fisher Stevens and Michael Keaton or Michael Keaton and Brie Larson...

My favorite is Brie Larson and Alison Brie, then they can also be more than just 'partners' haha

Bryan Cranston and Tom Hanks. Both are great actors who happen to be friends and I feel that part of the reason why Harrison and McConaughey work so well is that they happen to be friends in real life.

You know what I keep thinking is that there are 2 years missing. this is all taking place in 2012. Are we gonna see a 2 years later type situation?

Just going to leave this here for some of you:

I'd like a pair like Bryan Cranston and maybe Jessica Chastain

I hope each season, whether it's in the 90's, the 50's, wartime, or Victorian times, ends with the words 'True Detective' and one of the leads turning to the camera as he/she says it.

Meh. Anthology shows have been around for ages and like every thing else its cyclical. We'll probably see an uptick on that style but its only cause networks are all about copying each others successes trying to make a buck.

That was, kinda my point. Just like after LOST's success, all the major networks the following year had these high concept sci/fi projects. NBC with Surface, CBS with Threshold and even ABC again with Invasion. I know anthology series aren't anything new but, they are in this "golden age" of tv we seem to be in the midst of.

They were mostly Sci-Fi or Horror half hour programs like Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits or Tales from the Crypt. These anthology shows are on a slightly grander scale. They're longer, larger productions and have bigger stars.

Coincidentally another anthology series starts next month, Fargo on FX.

Yea that's what I was thinking. What other anthology series have done full season story arcs? I can only think of episodic ones

Saw the Yellow King Theory last night. Hilarious. :woot:

Those little details in the video tells everything, can't believe I missed it!

"His skin and clothes are all yellow. YELLOW. Just like the YELLOW KING."

Someone on reddit managed to get the spoilers for Ep.8. No way I'm I reading them. That would be the biggest disservice I could possibly do to not only myself but to the show runners and cast.

the revelations in that video theory are amazing.

P.S. Keaton and Chastain.
