Heads (Batman fan art)

The rendering on your sketches is very good. They are life-like, and you seem to have a talent for working with references (the Einstein is coming out awesome). On some of your heads though, the ears are way big and too low on the head, that gives a non human appearance. Good job though

Kez, having had a battle royale with you in the Batman FanArt Thread, if I may suggest that with your noses you try to eliminate using the "bridge" that you seem to employ and instead go for a rounder look. I think it might serve you well in trying to minimize the bulbous look that is really the only fault in your work.

Those are the same reasons I use art tutorial books only as a guide, rather than an actual factual lesson. I prefer the "draw what I see" method rather than the B.S. step-by-step, "this is exactly how to do the nose, this is exactly how to do eyes, etc."

You can't learn from that, and it pisses me off even moreso since that's exactly how art teachers are teaching in schools these days.

Either way, good work, kez, keep it up. The transitions from one obvious model to a comic/movie character is awesome:up:.

Thanks, I used a step-by-step Burne Hogarth book, then consiquently added to that imaginary ""this is exactly how to do the nose, this is exactly how to do eyes, etc." drone head, Heath Ledgers features and attempted to duplicate the same shadows from a diffrent angle. :hehe:

It would be easer to draw straight from reference like the Einstein drawing, but tbh, it's pretty boring.

Trying colouring by adjusting the layer property to "multiply". Use several layers some set to normal other to multiply. A suggestion.

That could be pretty useful thanks

Haha, funny you say that, because I seem to create my best works when I use a reference. I prefer that.

But hey, whatever works for us. We all do it different ways:brucebat:.

Hairs still pretty flat, cup is out of perspective, gona need to find to vanishing piont if a background is to be added then will be able to make the cup in perceptive.

I think your drawings look really great. The coloring is very nice too. I do see that you tend to use a bit much of the Airbrush tool (at least that's what it's called in Painter, not sure for PS). Too many people rely on the airbrush as a crutch, and it tends to make pictures blotchy and blurry.

I think a good experiment for you to do would be to use a brush that left brush strokes. Try something with harder edges and stronger lines. It may take a little getting used to, but you can render much stronger images with stronger lines.

Lovin the colors

Very appropriate for the character

Solid work
