Since we'll be playing together and trying to rock the upcoming challenges I think it's good to get to know each other.

I'm JH. I'm honestly not that creative when it comes to computers... Paint being the extent of my abilities, and I don't know squat about videos and all that. However, my experience can really help us out I think. I'm something of a vet and know my way around a game of Survivor

Okay guys... lets get organized.

We can't very well have an award show without nominees...and that is your task tonight!

I am going to be giving each team a theme relating to popular “Oscar Type” films. With that theme, you will need to do the following:

1 – Think of an idea for a film. You will need to create a basic premise for your own Oscar Type film, based on the theme I give you. This includes a story, title, and how it relates to your given topic. You may make this as bare bones as possible. Or, you could go nuts and cast it, hire a crew, etc. The choice is yours. Be creative (or not)!

Your premise will be graded on a 1-5 point scale on the following:

Creativity
Quality
Consistency with theme

2 – You will need to make a poster for your film. Use paint, photoshop, whatever. Just make a poster that represents your film.

Your poster will be graded on a 1-5 scale on:

Creativity
Quality
Visual Representation of Film (how well does it sell the film)

3 – You must make a player square for each member of your tribe, with the theme of dressing up for the Oscars. So in other words, how you look in the audience of the ceremony.

Your squares will be graded as a group on a 1-5 scale (essentially by how well the judges in the Oscar committee like them in general...they're only worth 5 points).

ALL IMAGES IN THIS CHALLENGE MUST ADHERE TO SHH! CENSORSHIP POLICY!!!! So no profanity, nudity, etc.

You have until 12am EST Friday (or midnight Thursday night...however you want to phrase it) to complete this challenge! Anything later than that will not be accepted, and your tribe will be disqualified.

CHEATING: On this challenge, it is very hard to cheat. But, remember basics. No username sharing, abuse of mod powers, etc.

What's a Player Square?

Okay, I actually prefer to discuss details of what we're doing over AIM or something like that so other players can't sneak in here and see what we're doing. Chances are people are passing passwords around so there's that. However, I see no problem in discussing options.

So basically we're coming up with a movie idea based on WWII/Holocaust and creating a movie poster for it. We can get as detailed as we want with it (writing the story, script, cast it, create a movie trailor for it, etc.)

Secondly, we have to create 4 avatars representing the four of us to be later put on the game grid. They must look as if we are prepared for the Oscars.


Okay... this sounds good. So what do you guys think? I love writing novels for a hobby and I know twy likes Role Playing so I think we can come up with a good story for a movie.

Who among us is good at photoshop or something like that who can work on the movie poster or avatars? I can do paint pretty good and make still avatars for the grid but that's about it. I can make a movie poster but it would kinda suck (once we figure out what idea we're basing it on).


Ideas:

1) A respectable old man in America with a lot of money is dying. A young woman sits beside him, taking care of him in his final hours. His mind is slipping and he keeps refering to her by another woman's name, talking as if they were in love. He eventually remembers that she isn't and when she asks he reluctantly tells her a story, since he is about to die anyway.

The story will be the main plot reflecting his secret past as a soldier in Nazi Germany during World War II. It will be of his disgust of the Jewish people but how he ended up falling for one Jewish girl. He tried to secretly make life easier for her but couldn't do too much for fear of being found out. In the end he was going to save her but she loved him to much to see him throw his life away and made him remain silent as she was led to her death in the final purges. The old man fled after this, before the final raids came to where he was, and he relocated and rebuilt his life.

The woman is shocked by this but assumes its the ravings of a dying man. She comforts him as he dies and we get the idea that this young girl reminds the man of the young Jewish woman he'd fallen in love with. After her death she does some research but there isn't anything to be found. She's left with the mystery of whether or not the man's story really happened or not.


2) We can maybe make the film idea based on a true story. I'll have to look up the details but there's a true story of a man who worked for the government in, I think France, who purposely infiltrated Germany as a slave. He was sent to the concentration camps and went through the Hells of that life and escaped years later. When he went to his country to reveal the horrors of what the Nazis were doing, before anyone knew, his country accused him of lying because it was far too unbelievable and the man was disgraced... despite all he'd been through... and thus, Hitler was allowed to continue his horrendous crimes.

I could have the details wrong but it's the right idea. I can find the story quickly if we're interested in this one (or we could just create a variation of it and call it our own).

What's a Player Square?

I asked SF that and he said basically just an avatar to later be put on a grid with the rest... the image that gets X'd out when we're evicted.

I'm twy, I'm not that creative at all. I can't draw my way out of a paperbag. I do have sparks of creativity, but it's.. rare.

I'm generally a good team player *I think*, and unless you're a total idiot, I'm a nice person.

This is my second time playing in a very long time (like, pre-forum usage, this place is cool).

Umm... my favorite movie is *currently* Hot Fuzz.
My favorite TV show is.. a toss up of every one I watch, which is many.
My hobbies are... a lot. I have many. Sewing, doodling (totally a hobby), daydreaming, miniatures, throwing paint at things...anything that interests me and I want to try my hand at. I love RPing...
My favorite letter is 'y'
I don't have a favorite color, but I have lots of favorite color combinations.

Or something really dark, but with a lot of black humor in it. Possibly about some of the lesser known atrocities? I'm all for shock and awe.
