I got myself that Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition game for the PS2.

Street Fighter II is one of those rare games where I'm better at it as an adult than I was when I was a kid. But I still suck pretty badly at it.

I mainly use Ken and Ryu, prefer to use Ken because his dragon fist thing is better. I can pull off all their specials... but not 10 times out of 10, especially if I'm fighting from the right side of the screen. I sometimes use Cammy aswell, her move she does when she yells something that sounds like "Silent Hill" is good.

So like... how can I become better? I mainly wanna become better because my buddy keeps kicking my ass. I've only beaten him about twice, and that's out of about 100 games.

I've upped my game. I've definately improved over the last couple of days and learned some things.

Before, my general game style was to hang back and wait, and use my special moves from afar.

Now I've learned some "combos", and I've learned that it's actually better, most of the time, to dive right in there and get stuck into the action. One combo I like to use is the hard kick jump, followed by the twirly kick thing straight after, then a leg sweep as quick as I can do it. I've learned that an opponent is weaker if you can get him stuck in the corner. Two low light kicks on the floor, followed by a leg sweep is good. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses. Like if you're fighting T Hawk, it's mostly best to hang back and wait, and time your Shroyokens for when he does his jump attacks. These and other minor tactics have helped me improve my game. Tonight I beat SF II faster than I've ever beat it before.

if you've already beaten athe comp on all difficult levels, which you should have immediatelysince you've been playing since you were a kid, start watching other humans play, or better yet, connect and play online.

I haven't beaten all the difficulty levels. I had the game when I was a kid, and went years without playing it. It's only recently I've gotten back into it again, The CPU is pretty damn hard.

Don't you have any combos/moves you could tell me?

Patience. I've learned that button mashing won't get you everywhere all the time. It's not about finishing quickly so I just pick at my opponent. Wait till they screw up and counter. The whole block and counter attack thing as opposed to pressing everything at once trying to get a fireball out. It especially works against Bison who'll just look to counter/reverse everything anyway.

go to gamefaqs and check the character faqs on your favorite pick and master that character...
