Hey guys,

I just bought a Canon mp-470 printer yesterday and I've had the hardest time with it. Installation and set up was easy but I can get the darn thing to print.

The main problem is, every time it pulls the paper in, it stops and says there is a paper jam. It does this every single time but there doesn't seem to be anything stopping it.

When I pull the paper out its not even bent or anything. It's almost as if it pulls the paper in half way and then just stops for some reason.

If I hit the "feed" button, however, one sheet of paper feeds through with no problem. It's just when it's trying to print.

Doesn't anyone have advice on how to fix this?

Try taking out reducing the amount of paper that's in the feed tray. I've found that if you put in too much it will read as a paper jam sometimes.

Actually, I've never had more than 5 sheets in there at a time. Most of the time, it's only one sheet in the feed when I'm just trying to get it to work.

Me and my dad worked with it for a solid hour last night and nothing has worked.

Return it and get an HP printer.

Haha...

The only reason I got it was because my girlfriend wants a specific canon camera and they had a sale this weekend which included the printer. I figured, since she already had a printer, that I would just keep it.

My advice still stands.

To return it I would probably have to return then entire set (since the camera and printer came in the same box). She loves the camera and I'm not taking that away from her.

Any actual help with my paper jam problem?

Canon cameras are excellent. Their printers, not so much.

The paper jam is probably coming from either a problematic roller or a problem with the sensor. You'll probably have to enact the warranty on it to get it fixed.

I think your right, especially since it did this out of the box. Also, i tried to print it again without any paper in it. It still makes an awful noise and claims there is a paper jam.

Hopefully they can exchange the printer without needing the camera.
