Horror Hereditary (2018)

This looks really interesting. I'm confident Toni Collette will deliver as usual.

Can't wait to see this! The Witch is still one of my favorite films to come out this decade and I'd love to see another horror film of its quality this year. Between Annihilation and A Quiet Place being great and this and Suspiria looking promising, 2018 is shaping up to be a great year for horror films.

There were special screenings of this last night in select cities, and the Twitter reactions are a real treat.

I love that people are literally screaming in fear during this :funny:

If you guys saw The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, then you'll get an idea. It's f***ed.

A24 uploaded a whole bunch of promos on their youtube channel

Got hit with a few negatives yesterday.

Just realised this comes out tomorrow and I, fortuitously, have the day off.

Super pumped to see this. Definitely going this weekend. I told my wife it's just a drama about family dynamics.

Brah you're about to be in the doghouse.

I'm not confident enough in my mental health to want to subject myself to seeing this in theaters, but goddamn if this doesn't have my attention.

The hype is real for this one. I am excited for a truly superb horror masterpiece that can follow up The Conjuring. Many great ones since 2013 but nothing for me touched that one in recent years.

In the best marketing gimmick I've seen in years, A24 had a crowd wear Apple watches to track their heartrates during the film and have published the results for 5 randomly selected viewers.

William Castle would be proud.

Saw it a couple of hours ago. No spoilers--

Pretty dull. That kind of generic and obvious visual palette, pace and attempt-at-creepy atmosphere "smart horror" tends to go for. A nice twist or two, a few good "oh ****" moments, and a couple that were unintentionally funny. Everybody gives good performances. The ending reminded me of a horror short film a friend wrote a few years ago that he ended up folding into something else.

Worth pointing out-- I'm not a horror guy. They rarely, rarely do anything for me. But occasionally when one's getting raves I'll check it out in hopes it clicks with me... This did not. I had the same reaction to The WWitch and The Babadook. So if you liked those, chances are you're all set.

Frankly, I think the scariest part of the whole thing was the ticket price. Not going back to that chain in a hurry.

I was coming here just to say it was pretentious trash

The was one particular death that was extremely jarring in a great horror movie way, but the rest.... jesus.
