I heard rumors that one of the Cheetah Girls has been talked to to replace Vanessa Hudgens. But I think, if true, it was just a strategy to get Hudgens to finally get attached as opposed to trying to hold out for more money.

Gabriella is NOT needed for a sequel. Really the only character that needs to be there is Troy. HSM2 was all about him with all the characters taking a backseat. Gabriella was not a lead character like in HSM1 and Sharpay was more important to the plot than she was here. All they need to do is say that her mother's job moved them again at the last minute and bring in a new girl for the school year. Or skip the school year and move onto first year of college. Theres plenty of ways to work around Gabriella

I am annoyed by the fact that Chad says he doesn't dance yet in both HSM movies he's the one dancing the hardest.

Agreed. Vanessa is the weakest, in that she cant act, dance and is a mediocre singer.
