Hilary Swank Will Play Amelia Earhart

This movie sounds terrible, by the way.

Yet another dramatic Oscar-bait period biopic about a person whose myth far exceeds reality. And Hilary Swank... :whatever:

Seems Ewan McGregor just jioned this cast: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117986462.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Ewan McGregor flies with 'Amelia'

Actor joins Fox Searchlight's Earhart biopic

Ewan McGregor has signed on to co-star in the Amelia Earhart biopic "Amelia" for Fox Searchlight.

Hilary Swank, Richard Gere and Virginia Madsen have already boarded the project, which Mira Nair is helming.

Story centers on the legendary aviatrix (Swank) and chronicles her rise to fame, marriage to publisher George Putnam (Gere) and passionate affair with Gene Vidal (McGregor), father of author Gore Vidal. Ronald Bass penned the screenplay.

The filmmakers have long been trying to land McGregor but were having trouble working out the scheduling. The actor is about to wrap "I Love You, Philip Morris" alongside Jim Carrey and will begin work on Ron Howard's "Da Vinci Code" follow-up "Angels and Demons" in early June. McGregor will sandwich the "Amelia" role in between.
The film, which is being produced by Ted Waitt, Lydia Dean Pilcher and Kevin Hyman, is shooting in Toronto. Don Carmody, Bass and Swank executive produce.

Christopher Eccleston will share the cockpit with Hilary Swank in Amelia, the Mira Nair-directed Amelia Earhart biopic for Avalon Pictures and Fox Searchlight, says Variety.

Eccleston (upcoming G.I. Joe, "Heroes") will play Earhart's navigator, Fred Noonan.

Noonan flew with Earhart when her plane disappeared over the Pacific during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 1937.

He joins a cast that also includes Richard Gere, Ewan McGregor, Virginia Madsen and Mia Wasikowska.

Oooh cool pix indeed, Gotham, tnx for sharing :woot:

I've always liked that period of dress. People just look better. Hillary Swank is a good actress so I hope this is good.

I really have a grudge against Swank because of her 2nd oscar win. After seen the trailer, I dont think I will like this movie. Looks good visually though.

not a fan of the poster

She goes missing at the end, and they don't find her.
:o

I am excited for this film. It makes me wonder how they are going to play off her disappearance as just static or how the movie to Alcatraz ended with the Coast Guard searching all over the island, then just a bunch of text that reveals something we already knew. Hopefully there is originality to the ending, not a conspiracy theory or a resolution to the mystery at all for that matter.

She looks like Gary Busey.

if this crap wins an oscar im gonna vomit...everywhere

You havent even seen the movie to see if it's bad or not, how can u have such a strong reaction already?
