One of my friends once said to me "Ok, to freak people out, whenever someone walks into the room, pretend we're in the middle of a conversation and I'll say 'So I pulled the elephant's penis out of the donkey...'"

I then brought up to him that the donkey was the Democratic symbol and the elephant was the Republican symbol. The joke gained many fine shades of meaning and nuance beyond inter-animal relations.
