Shia LaBeouf Grows Horns

Source: Variety
March 17, 2011

It's been some time since we first learned that Mandalay Pictures was developing a film based on the Joe Hill novel, Horns. Today, Variety offers an update on the project, suggesting that not only is the film moving forward, but that it's going to do so with Shia LaBeouf in the lead.

The novel, released last year, is a horror love story about young man named Ig Perrish who wakes up one day to find that horns have grown from his head. What's more, they're still growing and are somehow tied to the unsolved murder of his girlfriend.

LaBeouf, who appears this summer in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, will play the part of Perrish.

Hill, the son of horror legend Stephen King, is also the creative force behind the upcoming Fox television series "Locke and Key."

Sounds interesting. I haven't read the book yet, but it the concept is different at least. I'm just happy it's not another remake, reboot, or sequel.

Love this book and really excited they're making a movie out of it. I like Shia enough, but I don't think he's right for Ig. But I'll keep an open mind.

Alexandre Aja Takes Horns

It was some time ago that Mandalay Pictures first announced their plans to develop Joe Hill's novel, Horns, into a feature film. Today, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Alexandre Aja has signed on to direct.

The novel, released last year, is a horror love story about a young man named Ig Perrish who wakes up one day to find that horns have grown from his head. What's more, they're still growing and are somehow tied to the unsolved murder of his girlfriend.

Shia LaBeouf was, earlier this year, attached to the role of Perrish, but there's no confirmation yet as to whether or not he's still involved.

Aja recently directed Piranha and is known for his past horror efforts such as Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension.

Hell yeah! Definite improvement in casting. I like Shia in most things, but when I read the character would wake uip with horns all I could imagine was Shia panicing, looking in the mirror, and screaming "NO NO NONONONONO NO NO NONONO NO NOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Makes one wonder if Radcliffe is destined to star in horror/fantasy adaptations for the rest of his acting career. ;)

the fail is strong with this one. just kidding of course, but in all seriousness, I used to think Shia was a good actor back when he was doing movies like the greatest game ever played, the roles he's taking now that he's gotten big, eh. Radcliffe is a far superior actor imo.

Juno Temple Takes Horns Role

The Dark Knight Rises star Juno Temple is set to join Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming supernatural thriller Horns. Based on the novel by Joe Hill, the film will be directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D). Joe Anderson (The Grey) and Kelli Garner (Lars and the Real Girl) are said to be in talks to appear as well, as is Max Minghella (as reported earlier this week).

The film is a supernatural thriller driven by fantasy, mystery and romance, follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Temple). Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriends tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer.

Horns is being directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension) from an adapted screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment). Producers are Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland and Mandalay Pictures President Cathy Schulman. Joe Hill and Red Granites Joe Gatta are executive producers.

This movie sounds like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus without the fantasy element (for the exception of the horns of course).

that looks awesome. and LOL at calling Juno temple a "star" of The dark knight rises...where was she in it? was she that little blond chick that hung out around catwoman?

It looks like Harry Potter with horns growing out of his skull. Never let it be said they don't give the public what it wants.

This looks so dumb.

Make Hellboy 3 instead.

Oh hey look who didn't get the horns reference.

It was you, Marvolo.

I would have also accepted Legend 2.

I get the horns reference i just don't understand coming into a thread calling a project dumb and implying a connection to another project that in no way resembles the project in the slightest other than they both have horns.

Im really trying to picture Shia with those horns but just cant. Think they definitely ended up with the right person.

Well first off...this does sound really dumb. The plot sounds really stupid. A guy grows horns to solve his girl friend's murder? Ohkay.

So...if we are going to get a movie about horns...lets have Hellboy 3 Hollywood instead of whatever this is (even though that part was a joke).

Id love to have hellboy 3 and guillermo says him and pearlman are thinking of some kind of story. However hollywood nor this movie are responsible for lack of hellboy 3. Thats all Guillermo and his neurotic need to take on a new project every week. He had written off hellboy 3 and said he didnt think he was going to do it then Pearlman recently got in full hellboy makeup for a sick kid and it reignited the flame in guillermo. So who knows when it will get made.

Wolverine never had horns.... did he?

Also I really would like to see Hellboy 3 but this should hold me over in the meantime.
