Hostel...anyone??

I stayed in the New York on cuz I was only there for a night and didn't want to spend an outrageous amount of money to sleep in a bed for a few hours. I stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel once in Manahtten, but I can't remember what I paid.

I've stayed in a lot in the past 5 years more then 10 I'm sure, some have private rooms.

I stayed in one in Dublin that included a full Irish breakfast buffett, god I miss that country.

My girlfriend and I travelled Europe for a month last sumer. We ad people to stay with in several countries, but in Ireland and France we stayed in hostels. Ireland was a 16-bunk co-ed room. I liked it though, it was fun, right in the middle of Dublin.

In Paris, we were supposed to be booked for an 8-bunk room, but when we got there, the guy at the desk says "i'm sorry, there seems to be a problem. That roomis all booked up." we were pissed until he told us we would have our own private room with our own bathroom for no extra cost. That was awesome! The rest of Paris sucked though...

Great, I'm not allowed to dislike movies now!

Hostel is a movie that tries to pretend it is smarter than it actually is. Elli Roth "this has alot of to say about society!". Yeah, sure it does. Americans are stupid and rude, Europeans are sex crazy and speak the wrong languages? Is that what Elli Roth is trying to say?? These two guys, they have perfectly consensual sex with women, and they need punished for it?? Exactly what is it Mr. Roth is trying to say? Throwing in the odd comment in a movie about how important family is doesn't make your movie deep or insightful. Tacking on your movie "based on a true story" when you're friend Harry Knowles saw an ad... that's stupid. The movie is not suspensful. I really think it's been so long since a good US horror film has come out that people have actually forgotten what makes a good horror film, therefore when trash like Hostel comes out people are like "it's gory!! GOOD HORROR MOVIE!!". I hate people. Yeah, sure, it's gory. But is it scary? No. It takes a LONG LONG time in this movie for any sort of horror esque moments to occur. A person would be forgiven for thinking they were watching an American Pie wannabe. More **** and ass than some porno movies. This movie throws beautiful women onto the screen to distract you from how lacking in any deph this movie is. Getting your buddy Quentin Tarantino to say he's "presenting" the film doesn't make your film good. Referencing Pulp Fiction doesn't make your film good. Having Takashi Miike do a cameo doesn't make your movie good. I doubt many fans of Hostel have even ever watched a Takashi Miike movie before. This movie is supposed to be a horror. All in all, about 10 or 20 minutes of this movie is a horror. The rest of it is a cross between just plain boring, American Pie esque humor, and **** and ass.

Freddy vs Jason. Now there is a movie that is alot smarter than Hostel!! First guy to die is a womanising pig, the second and third are alchoholics, it has a much better message. Freddy vs Jason doesn't try to be anything that it isn't. Hostel tries to pretend it is something more significant than it actually is.

It's also very annoying how many things they get wrong about Eastern Europe. Including people talking the wrong languages.

I slept in both hostels in new york, San Fransisco, boston ,london and france.

No, you're allowed to dislike movies. But this is a thread about hostel's...not the movie 'Hostel'. What's the first thing Kainedamo says in a thread about hostel's? "The movie sucks" You just seem like a very bitter and negative person. Negative Nancy.

Other people were talking about the movie too, dumbass.

That doesn't mean this thread was about the movie.

Dumbass.

Has anyone here ever stayed in a Hostel?

I like to travel and I don't want to spend a lot of money on a hotel. I've met a lot of people this way, drinkin buddies and such.

They do have private rooms for those that need privacy.

This weekend I stayed in one in NY(Times Square) $45 with a kitchen, no a/c, it was co-ed. I was one of 2 females and there were like 4 guys. They were pretty cute, too.
Do you have to share bathroom with those 6 other people too? :(

Btw, when I read your title, I thought you were talking about the movie. :O

It's still incredibly stupid to bring up the movie in a thread that isn't about it.

And using other people's remarks as justification won't help either.

Dumbass.

Yes, they keep it clean and theres cleaning products close at hand if you're sketchy. These guys were really cool.

Funny story: I stayed in a co-ed 16-18 bed hostel in Galway, Ireland, my bed was near the bathroom :( , I woke up while some guy was on his way to the bathroom all he was wearing was a shirt and no underwear, nothing but buns  natural night light :( I can' t remember if he was cute or not.

I have not done that sort of thing before on my travels but I guess I won't mind it. As long as the place is clean and the people are alright.

Hahaha! OMG!! Who cares if he's cute or not?! A more important question is: are his buns cute? :o :p

The whole thought of this concept just mortifies me. Living with complete strangers in a foreign land all the while sharing a bathroom??? Hi, I'll pass.
I would never ever in a million years stay in a Hostel.

It actually does sound kinda scary but I don't mind trying something different at least once. If I don't like staying at a hostel, I can always check out and check into a hotel. But even when you stay in a hotel, you sorta like share a bathroom too since other people have been there before you. As for the sleeping in a room with strangers... yeah... I'll have to think about that. Really hard.

High maintenance? I can't afford you. :(

Personally I don't think I have stayed in a Hostel. But I would be really to give it a try seeing as how it would be different and something new.

I'm going to Prague next year and I can't decide if I'll stay in Hostels are not. I guess if I plan on a lenghthy stay and would be very economical.

If I hadn't stayed in one in Ireland I wouldn't have made out with this darling leprechaun.

How long is a "lengthy stay"?

YOu made out with a leprechaun? After the make out session, did he lead you to the pot of gold? :D

I had no idea what a hostel was until I looked in this thread.
