They're discussing a new dc tv series on Hourman however instead of taking a drug called Miraclo to gain an hour of power he has the ability to see into the near future.

Sounds more like Sandman than Hourman but they could make him the descendant of both and even have Vandal Savage as a nemesis after all Savage did try to eliminate the descendants of the JSA and this could easily lead into seeing a present day version of that group maybe throw in a few curve balls by introducing the various hero/villain descendants as being entirely different from those of that earlier era... they could even have it linked to Arrow and that Flash offshoot by making Barry Allen being a descendant of Jay Garrick and of course have Black Canary or Mrs Laurel Lance have an appearance!

Well I thought this ought to have a mention probably the wrong place for this though!

Wow.

That sounds dumb as hell.

Like, the defining characteristic of Hourman is that he's a superhero struggling with drug addiction. That is basically his only noteworthy character trait.

I mean, the show might still be good, which I doubt because it's the CW, but if they've decided to ditch a legitimately interesting concept in favor of a completely unrelated one without any of the same dramatic potential, this does not indication good decision making abilities on the part of the creators.

Not that I'm defending them but it might work a good starting point although was his reason for becoming a pharmacist was to find a cure for his "nightmarish" visions?

Still think this could work as a series if they had a Vandal Savage style nemesis whose hunting the descendants of his ancestors' greatest adversaries maybe even recruiting those he can corrupt and killing the rest perhaps even testing their worthiness in advance.

Still yes you'd think they'd involve more of his character actual backstory.

Eh, I'm not hopeful. The CW isn't known for making things that are, you know, any good. And this strikes me as an absurd creative decision.

Well, they had Buffy and Angel once, people are saying a lot of good things regarding post-first half of season 1 Arrow, and Supernatural has its moments

Buffy Angel and Supernatural were all created for the WB, not the CW. Different management. Also I don't think Arrow is very good.

Interestingly nothing has been said about linking this to Arrow, actually it might have bee a better idea to see how that Flash series works out and if it does come back to this later on so they can develop it better using both series as inspiration.

What the hell? So basically they are changing the entire premise of Hourman? That is stupid. This sounds like a TV version of that movie, Next.

Hurry, call Nicholas Cage. He'd be perfect for it and he loves to star in comic book adaptations.

Might even get him play the father of the lead.

Still it does sound like a Spiderman-like figure without the super strength and agility but a variation of the spider sense.

Would be more interesting if he was developing a version of Miraclo and that boosted his abilities enough to understand the true nature of his "visions" perhaps even have him develop a measure of superhuman abilities during his attempt to thwart whatever he sees in his visions and he doesn't understand his company's attempt to rediscover his grandfather's creation is what's effecting him now.

After all a boost of self confidence is part and parcel of what Miraclo did for the original Hourman. It might even be funny if his company can't find out how to make their version of Miraclo work unaware their attempt actually activated the inherited Miraclo altered biochemistry of the current Hourman.

Could even have someone at the company or the company itself as a recurring villain in the series.

Still needs more details about his wife and kid since I'm assuming he became a workaholic trying to cure his "condition".

If this is set in Earth 2, and if Hourman ever meets the Green Arrow from Prime-Earth, perhaps Hourman will tell Ollie that he used to be called 'The Hood' back in his own universe.

Just a thought.
