House approves drilling in AWR

Our future is going to be like the one depicted in the greatest movie ever made Battlefiel Earth.

So Jonty, are you trying to tell us water is more expensive than gasoline?

1. It's still in the laboratory stage, what seems to work in the laboratory, doesn't always apply in real life. Remember cold fusion?

2. There is a huge energy requirement difference between running a welding torch and a megawatt power plant. It may work on small scale, but that doesn't automatically mean you can large scale it.

3. It's also a question of economics. After spending the energy spinning water into a usuable fuel, how much is really left over for travelling? It's not very feasible if people have to fill up the tank every day.

4. It may still be a scam, though I hope not.

Reminds me of a bit from the late(:() That 70s Show.

"They've got this car, that runs on WATER! Water, man!" :D

Theres also bio-diesel, ethynol etc.

Bio-diesel gets cold and waxy in the winter.

And if you read the article, it's only economically viable because of government subsidies. IN other words, robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Yes, but that wasn't the point to my post! You stated that there were NO other fuels, only later did you refine (change your position) the statement stating that they were too expensive!

Maybe they should sell Fairy dust and Unicorn farts to power are car?

There is no mainstream alternative at the moment.

I didn't change my position. Something that costs 3 or 4 or more times as much is not an alternative in the real world.

If we were to switch to hydrogen tomorrow, are you willing to pay $8 for an apple and $1200 for your electricity or would you rather stay with the current situation and pay $1 for that apple and $250 for your electricity?

Only the most fanatical person would see hydrogen as an alternative at the moment.

Unicons don't have enough methane in thier farts! :( Maybe Godzilla!

really, if you look at the House plan, it requires very little messing with ANWAR. They are only using about 3-5 square miles out of thousands. Really, if it will help the energy problem while other sources like ethonal and hydrogen are being perfected/produced, and will do so little damage, then I say let it roll

Blah, blah...you said there were none. I posted a vid of a guy in his garage that made a H2O hybrid. It's out there! I never said hydrogen was an alternative, I simply stated that alternatives are out there rational or irrational. Simply put the technology is there...quit twisting things around!

Either way we're still going to be paying for gas in the near future whether it's 2.89 or 2.50 (which is pretty much the price of gas if they opened up the AWR to the greedy bastards!)

I can't help but ask if I have to be so explicit, covering every possible contingency with my answers so that you guys can understand? It seems with some of you, I have to create a doctoral dissertation in my answers because some of you lack the imagination to understand precisely what I mean and cannot understand that no alternative sometimes simply means not a real alternative.

When I said that there were no alternatives, I did not mean that we cannot generate power in other ways, but ALL (and yes, I do mean every single alternative you can think, even the ones you read in comic books, from the past or near future) are not economically feasible at this time, therefore they cannot be an alternative, therefore they are not an alternative at this time, therefore there are NO alternatives.

Am I clear here? Are there any dunderheads needing an answer expanded upon?

In the near future, and when I say the near future, so the dunderheads of the Hype can understand, I mean within the next decade or so (sorry, I can't provide an exact date because my crystal ball is broken so I apologize to the dunderheads of the Hype for my inability to forecast an exact date down to the minute) the costs of producing hydrogen is expected to fall below the costs of gasoline, so the future of hydrogen (provided that we can find an adequate method of storing it, because hydrogen needs a lot of pressure to be used economically.

You're yelling into the wind there buddy but nice try!

Obviously I'm not, because one of the dunderheads took time to respond.

However, I'm leaving it up for all the other dunderheads to read in all its glory.

*whispers to WL* Pssst...I think they lack the imagination for abstract thought. Silly dunderheads!

You should start like a fund...

The anti Anti-Canadian dunderhead relief program; and we could have commercials and at the end you could come out of the closet (figuratively speaking of course)...I'm not only the president, I'm a client!

You could probably use some of the money to subsidize alternative fuels so no more $8 apples! This way Peter doesn't get robbed and Paul...well Paul will be Paul and can still ho' Mary around for some extra loot from Peter!

hey Lord Siva who is that in your avatar and do you have any bigger pictures of her?:)

I'd prefer to see the dunderheads die out through the evolutionary process.
