I have finally reached my boiling point with the company that was once two different juggernauts in their own prime. I'm sorry, but I can't be the only one feeling hungry every night. Unsatisfied with how awful RPGs have become. I'm not here to start a debate on which final fantasy is the best. Personally I think X was it's last decent entry. And oh my stars and garters is that depressing. I've played 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13. I so desperately want those rich RPGs of past to make a come back. We can all remember the feeling we had hitting the "new game" button on any of those classics. Why can't SE just BE SMART!?!? Give fans what we want for esper sake!!! I don't want to hit one button in battle and watch an anime tv show take place. I want to explore towns and talk to villagers. I want to feel connected to the characters. I want to have to sit down for an hour or two and really think about which 3 or 4 of these incredible characters do I want to have in my party!!! I'm not sure how you all feel about this but I would gladly take a remake of one of them. Excluding 10 of course seeming how the hd release was recent. (Which I'm having an amAzing time with). And while I love FF7, and would be first in line for the remake....but why not 6? Or 4? Or 8? Or 9? You get the point. It would be incredible to play any of those games again. Experiencing it on the beautiful ps4? Finally having the awe inspiring graphics to match the awe inspiring story? I apologize for the rant ladies and gentleman, but I simply can't help it. I just want to play a final fantasy game that I actually care about again. What are your thoughts my fellow gamers!?

Good reads soapy! Thanks! I know it's probably wishful thinking but I just want to really be immersed in a final fantasy game again. Final fantasy 15 just doesn't look like it'll do it for me. I'll give it a chance, and I hope it proves me wrong. which final fantasy would you guys like to see remade?

A live-action movie of Final Fantasy VII would probably atract a lot of interest from new fans, the franchise seems a little "exausted" at the moment.

Damn Poopoo, use some paragraphs.

But Square was amongst the list of many Japanese companies that stumbled this gen. They really just weren't ready for HD development. Also, 4 did get a remake on the DS not horribly long ago. They seemed to stop there. I'm guessing because throwing them on iOS has proven to be easier. I'm sure we'll see the remakes start up again at some point, but there's not a chance in the world they'll be PS4 remakes.

A live-action movie? Wut? It's exhausted, because Square really exhausted it for awhile.

Yeah, just call it Final Fantasy and try making it good.

I was way to focused and determined for paragraphs lol. And I don't understand why seeing a final fantasy remake on the ps4 is unrealistic. It makes perfect sense to me. You remake a game like ff6 for ps4 and you have a guaranteed hit. Every single person who has played that game would purchase the remake, not to mention introducing classic final fantasy play to a new generation.

I think it's just them being stubborn to be honest. They don't want to admit that these new installments in the series don't even belong in the same breath as the games of old. Remaking a game in their eyes would basically be admitting that they aren't as good. We used to get a new ff game once a year. Now we have games like ff 15 that have been in development since 2007? Really? Am I the only one who misses the strategic turn based battle system? 15 looks like a devil may cry spinoff with a final fantasy title slapped on it. I wish I could be in charge of that company for 1 year.

The same reason you didn't see them making remakes for them on the PS2 or the PS3. No company is going to put all that time, effort, and budget into a remake. Especially nowadays, when HD development has driven the budget of games up way higher than before, and the fanbase for JRPGs have faded from consoles in recent years. There's a big reason that the remakes have become a staple of handhelds and that, when it happens, you're most likely going to see the fabled FFVII remake either on mobile or the next Nintendo handheld.

I don't think there was ever a point where we got a new FF yearly, but you are right, they were more frequent. As I mentioned, many Japanese companies got sideswiped by HD development. It set them and their game development back a lot, which happened to almost every major Japanese company this gen.

Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 came out in a 4 year span. When I say remake I don't mean a re-mastered version. I mean a full blown remake. On the scale that They did with the remake of 4 on the ds. Remaking a game on the ps4 would not be any more costly than an original title. And the sales of jrpgs has declined because of lack of quality. Quite blatantly, they suck. They need to go back to basics and just do what they do best. No more of this mmo type crap, or action orientated crap.

Nothing wrong with variety. Besides, there are still plenty of traditional JRPGs being released if that's what you're looking for.

I know what you meant, what about my post seem to think that I didn't? my point still stands, though. They aren't going to put that kind of effort into a remake. 4 on the DS is a good example of my point. That game probably cost a fraction of what it would've cost to remake on the PS3. About the only time you're going to see that is whenever a company does so to reboot a franchise.

And you can say that about JRPGs, but if you actually go back to the past, you'll see that JRPGs weren't nearly as popular as you probably think they were. At least not outside of Japan. Pokemon and Final Fantasy are grand exceptions to this.

I honestly don't think that Square-Enix needs saving. Out of all the Japanese third party publishers, I think that they are by far the strongest due to them recognizing how Final Fantasy XIII and XIV weakened the brand and their acquisition of Eidos.

You're right. It probably did cost a fraction of what a remake would have cost on the ps3 or ps4. But I bet you the profit also would have been a fraction of what they would have made on the ps3 or ps4. The only argument here is the amount of effort it would take. Which so far they're clearly too lazy to make. Instead they would rather take the horrendous ff13 engine and just re-use it for 2 more games. Easy profit. Who cares about the quality. It's got a final fantasy logo on it! It'll sell!

There are several quality jrpgs. Grandia series, Suikoden series, Dragon quest, Xenogears, Crono Trigger. Among several others. All I'm saying is the majority of rpg fans are going to agree that final fantasy is in the pooper. They need something drastic to happen to gain their fan base back.

Whatever. I can see where this is going, and I'm not going to waste my time with it.

Not trying to argue tron, just really passionate about the subject matter. Hopefully I'm not the only one.
