Do you read web comics? Would you pay to read or download web comics if they were DC, Marvel, Darkhorse, or Image quality? Do you think web comics are the future?

No. I can't read something on a screen for too long cause it hurts my eyes and I know I'm not the only one. Comics were made for paper the same way novels were. It won't change anytime soon.

No way I'd pay to read webcomics. That said, I do read Ctrl-Alt-Del and Joyce and Walky!, and they both have bonus content that readers can pay for if they'd like to get a little more story, but I don't really care enough to spend money on that stuff.

How can you enjoy CAD? The characters are completely unlikable, the art is terrible copy-paste crap where everyone has droopy eyes and slack jaws, the "humor" is over-explained (that is, when it's even present), and Tim Buckley is a pedophile who showed his penis to a 14 year old girl via e-mail, and is also one of the most hated men on the internet. Even Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade called him "an art criminal" and "the f**king antichrist" respectively, and even made the character of Franzibald specifically to mock him.

****. Yes.

Meh, I couldn't care less about Tim as a person, what people think of him, or the cut & paste nature of the artwork. I find the dialogue and stories funny, so I read them.

I like CAD

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE.

Ha ha ha, I thought it would take at least a couple of posts to get to that.

But on a more serious note there are many webcomics which I enjoy.

Doctor McNinja is definitely one I would consider paying money for, but only if it transitioned to a print-only format; I'm not really all too inclined to pay money for content I've already been given for free.

....Although interestingly I've always thought the three-a-week webcomic format has been one of the comic's strengths, for the way that it forces the creative team to make at least one awesome thing happen on any given page.

On a related note: Lackadaisy is totally fantastic and you should read it immediately.

Right now I'm reading Freak Angels. Pretty good stuff if you like Warren Ellis.

Read some of that. You may find it enlightening, and change your opinion. The dialouge is amatuerish, and he overexplains every joke.

Ethan: Whoops, I fell down.

Yellow Box: Ethan has fallen down, because he is a wacky character. NAME OF VIDEO GAME.

Also, if you don't mind artists being pedophiles, might I suggest some Garry Glitter CDs? I mean, sure, Tim hasn't actually raped anyone (yet), but they're both still f**king pedos.

Tim could be the next Hitler, but as long as he produces a harmless comic that makes me chuckle a couple times per week, I'd likely still read it. You seem intent on depriving me of a source of enjoyment in the comic, but thankfully I don't care about your opinion on the matter.

I'm trying to get you to realize it's s**t, and that there's a ton of much, much better webcomics out there. You want gaming related? Penny Arcade. And they've never done a drawn out abortion storyline that looks to be culminating in rape. You want crazy wacky zany? White Ninja has all your needs. You want a guy riding a robot dracula into the earths atmosphere from the moon? The previously mentioned Dr. McNinja is awesome.

I do read Penny Arcade and Dr. McNinja. :o
I simply don't mind CAD, get a couple cheap laughs once in a while from it, and I'm trying to get you to realize that I don't care if you and others think it's s**t.

*sigh* It pains me to see someone who has such good taste in some things (your Big-Head avatar) be so clueless about others. If you want to ignore that fact that Buckley has no sense of humor, hasn't bothered to make a joke in a single comic since the miscarraige, and has no skills as an artist, I can't change that, no matter how hard I try. The reason that crap like Disaster Movie keeps getting made is because of that attitude though, where people refuse to step back and realize something might not be as funny as they first thought. And yes, CAD is the Disaster Movie of webcomics.

Two webcomics matter, Dinosaur Comics and Castle Vid-Cons.

Everything else sucks ass, including all that Ctrl-Alt-Del, Pennyarcade, Dr. McNinja bull****. PBF is clever, but the artist needs to get off his ass and f***ing do something.

The PBF guy put his comic on hiatus, and for good reason. His comics were increasingly just "Terrible thing, LOL" without the twist of perverse irony that made his best comics great.

But enough of that, Eags. I think you need to open up and let a little Scary Go Round in, an' melt that frosty ol' heart of yours.

Penny Arcade is great, especially the art, which as improved ten fold since it started. And Dr. McNinja is just 110% pure BAD ASS.

PBF is on hiatus, as has been said, and the only reason he kept it going as long as he did was because of fan pressure. The last comic he did on the site is about that.

I read a few, my 'regulars' I guess you could call them, the ones that I check at least once a week, is Penny Arcade, Dueling Analogs, Girly and Shortpacked!. I sometimes swing by CAD, VGCats and Fanboys, but CAD is just okay for a chuckle and VGCats and Fanboys update way too infrequently for me to check regularly.

I'm going through the Fanboys archive right now, it's pretty good. And yeah, VGCats has the most infrequent update schedule I've ever seen. Short Packed is gold, but I havent been digging the last storyline.

Aside from the ones already mentioned (except for CAD), I highly recommend the Perry Bible Fellowship.

Also, Darths and Droids. It's goddamn brilliant.

The webcomics I try to keep up with are Penny Arcade, Schlock Mercenary, 8-bit Theater, No Need for Bushido, and VG Cats.

I used to read Bob and George until it was completed, and PBF.

While reading about Religulous, I somehow came across a webcomic called Sinfest. I kinda like it.

Only if the content was original and online exclusive. I considered Marvel's web comic subsriction, but their selection is extremely lacking, and lets be real, I can download anything I want from torrent sites and file sharing sites.

To be fair, though, I don't think that the comic is anywhere near good enough that Buckley should be able to make a living off of it. I don't buy any of the merchandise, the 'premium' content, or really spend anything on CAD other than a little less than five minutes per week (and I don't understand those people who do shell out cash for it). I don't get why Tim only puts out a couple strips each week, considering the small amount of time required for his simplistic style, and I do call bulls**t on any excuse that he comes up with for his laziness. As a simple gag comic, I don't usually have any problem with it, but I agree that stories like the miscarriage plot and other attempts at adding drama to the strip, are needlessly drawn out and really don't belong anywhere near CAD.

I do enjoy reading webcomics, and most of the ones I like I would pay money for a paperback collection of.

My favorites are:

1/0-Webcomic artist begins a new comic and interacts with his characters, evolving his artisitc skills while developing their personalities and environment.

Thorn!-Set in the 1950s, little Rosie plots to one day rule the world. In the meantime she bosses around her minions (her cat, two of her classmates, and the paperboy) and torments her older sister.

Penny and Aggie-Two high school girls clash off/on while they deal with other problems (a lot more interesting than I described it)

Mutant Ninja Turtles Gaiden-An excellent TMNT fancomic (2003 toon).

Of Mice and Mayhem-An excellent Rescue Rangers fancomic.

Menage a 3-When Gary discovers his roommates are not only gay, but moving out to get their own place, he quickly seeks out an ad for new roomies so he can keep his place. Two very interesting women answer his ad and move into his home, let the fun begin!

Grim Tales From Down Below-Takes place years after the show, tells the tale of Grim and Mandy's children. Possibly a sequel to the Power Puff Girls Doujinshi, but I'm not quite sure about that. Cameos from other shows occur.

Power Puff Girls Doujinshi-Takes place a few years after the show, the girls move to a new city and adjust to their new surroundings as a new enemy makes his move. Multi-crossover.

Maturation-A very twisted take on Darkwing Duck, set a few years in the future.
