The Dark Knight How much longer will the dark knight be in Imax?

Anybody think that, with WB pushing Harry Potter to next July, this allows IMAX theaters to keep TDK showing through November and into December? This might even allow IMAX theaters that haven't been showing TDK the opportunity to open it at a later date.

Plus, this strategy won't detract from DVD sales because, owning the movie on DVD/BRD and seeing it in IMAX are two wholly different experiences.

I don't quite understand the need for Eagle Eye to be in IMAX, but I think a lot of theaters will be dropping TDK for it.

Hopefully some stubborn ones will still show TDK if it's raking in the cash.

This past Saturday I went to the only IMAX in San Diego thinking that they were not selling out and boy was I wrong. I ended up watching it on a normal screen and overheard some people buying tickets for the IMAX showing on Wednesday.

The London IMAX, during August, added dates that extend into October. If tickets keep being sold, they're going to keep on showing it. I don't know if ever there were a film as powerful as this for IMAX box office before.

Like I said in one of the other threads, if the movie comes out in December and I'm asking Santa for it for Christmas, I'd definitely go see it in IMAX again throughout the month of December to get it out of my system.

Probably until Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye looks good, but it doesn't seem like a "Experience it in Imax!" experience. I saw The Dark Knight for the 3rd time in Imax (and 8th time overall).

I called three LA-area IMAX theaters, and all of them had a different answer. The person at CityWalk said probably Labor Day, the person at Ontario Edwards said "whenever we get the next IMAX film" (I took that to mean Eagle Eye but they didn't know for sure), and The Bridge had no idea since they were still selling out shows for TDK.

So Eagle Eye looks like it'll be the next film to be in IMAX theaters, but I will bet that if TDK is still selling out IMAXs at that point, they'll save some shows for it.

Considering I saw a sold out show at 9:30 a.m. last week, it would make sense to keep TDK for either early or late shows. I mean, who's going to see Eagle Eye at 9:30 a.m.? And maybe it'll get a reprise before the dvd comes out. It seems like there's still plenty o'money to be made...

I am not sure. I hope it stays as long as it can. Really. I've seen it 3 times in IMAX....3! Wouldn't mind seeing it once more in it. I've seen it like once in regular, wouldn't mind seeing it in regular again though.

Yeah I called the Portland IMAX theater and they said they would not be getting another movie till Nov but they could possibly put something up in October. So at least we should be expecting it playing till the end of September

i thnk it all depends on the theater lol. i mean here in Sacramento our IMAX isnt gettting it til after Labor Day, so i imagine it'll have a couple of months of play hopefully

Now that Harry Potter got bumped, there really doesn't seem to be any IMAX worthy movies between now and Watchmen in March. Maybe Bond and The Day the Earth Stood still.

I think Harry Potter got moved to summer because WB just realized that they screwed themselves over and were out a movie for Summer 09. First they postponed Man of Steel indefinitely, then decide to make Justice League then totally dropped the ball on that, now they have nothing. So at least they can movie Harry Potter to a time of year that can rack in a lot more dough since school is out.

From the trailers, it looks like the part in The Matrix where Morpheus was telling Neo things on the phone in order for him to escape the agents. Except it'll be for an entire movie.

Doesn't matter what it's about - they're making an IMAX release version of it.

Since TDK is still doing so well, I wouldn't be all that surprised if many IMAX theaters kicked out Eagle Eye after the obligatory two weeks and started showing TDK again.

I think regular theaters might do something similar, considering how fast some turds like Meet Dave are dropped.

The IMAX in downtown Toronto (Scotiabank theatre) was packed on Sunday, aside from the first 2 front rows... over a month since the release and still packed..impressive

well all the imax's near me (palisades, new roc, and amc downtown) are heavily publicizing eagle eye. i saw TDK in imax for the 5th time on saturday and they were pushing it hard. so i doubt they would start showing TDK again after eagle eye starts unless its a month or two later for a re release etc
