With volume 3 being officially put on hold I wonder what this means for phase 4 as a whole? something will have to get moved up to take that may 2020 spot and in the end it will have a ripple and effect everything after it as well.

And unless disney gives up the may 2020 and we omly get 2 films in 2020 which I seriously doubt.

I do think it could effect the overall structure of phase 4s story arc.

I dont think so, they will concentrate a Little bit more on the earth-storyline first.

We will have to wait and see. Let's not forget, Guardians Vol. 2 didn't have a lot of huge MCU-shattering implications. It was a fairly personal standalone story. No Thanos. No Infinity Stones. We barely even see any of Xandar.

Vol. 3 looked like it was going to involve Adam Warlock and probably would've been another standalone adventure for the Guardians.

Gunn I think said Vol 3 was going to build the cosmic foundation upon which phase 4 was built. Eternals and Doctor Strange may do that now.

Thor 4 and Captain Marvel 2 are other possibilities.

Fantastic Four maybe, but that could be risky. That brand is tarnished right now so Marvel should focus on rebuilding it first.

Think they are holding for watiti to be available. But is a danger as the actors might not all be available again at the same time for a while.

I mean, Feige himself stated that Captain Marvel will be the bridge between the terrestrial and the cosmic sides of Marvel, so...

Probably a blessing in disguise. They'll get to introduce fox characters if it's delayed long enough for that acquisition to get sorted.

Would be pretty cool seeing the Shi'ar and Gladiator in the cosmic mcu.

Not much. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will still be made, as soon as Disney pluck up the courage to admit they made a mistake and rehire James Gunn.

Hate to break it to you but will not happen in the forseable.

Gotg 3 will be made with a new director or they'll dump it for a few years. Yes it is a billion dollar franchise but most marvel franchises are these days. They'll probably think start a new one with new actors on cheap contracts. A director or actor isn't bigger than the mcu.

I will always like Drax in GOTG movies and his character will be missed if not return but sadly if they have to, they could replace his character with someone like Nova, silver surfer, or someone not a member but would work great with the team. Sadly missed if this movie isn't made to complete the trilogy.

Cosmo would be my personal pick, but there are a number of other characters they could choose too. Phyla-Vell is another character I've been waiting to see.

New actors won't have the same draw as Chris Pratt though, who is massive right now. If Disney have to backtrack, they will. Public attitude currently says they made a mistake in firing James Gunn.

Public attitude, or the attitude of some, but not all, in the geek industry or fandom who pay more attention to this compared to the general moviegoer or audience member who probably has no idea who James Gunn even is? And that audience probably make up more of the moviegoers than those in the geek community.

Losing Pratt would be rough. He's the star of the franchise, and the one it would be tough to do without. The others aren't as important. Rocket as a character is, but they could recast his voice if they absolutely had to and I don't think it would raise many eyebrows. So Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot (same situation as Rocket) could form the core of a new team, if necessary.

For example, a new team of Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Adam Warlock, and Quasar should work.

I think Nova could be a decent draw as well.
