With the things they can do with motion capture and CGI these days, I'm inclined to agree with you. The ironic part is they're doing just that for the Silver Surfer in the new film, but not for Everlovin' Blue Eyes.

I'm not saying the surface won't become smoldering obsidian, I'm saying the earth will still exist and it'll still have a core, mantle and crust just like always.

This whole thing assumes all humans will be living reliant on technology in a western culture with the highest level of medical science at their disposal and that everyone will strive for a very specific aesthetic choice in mate, which is not the case or is it likely to become so any time soon, IMHO

I don't think you reallize just how massive the Earth is. Even if we were to set off all the nukes at the same time, it wouldn't blow apart the Earth.

Even if we did blow the Earth apart, gravity alone would ensure that the Earth would just put itself back together.
