I've been saving one of my more complex essay questions for such a match, and I think you two would appreciate this one. The answer I like more gets my vote:

You are a creative consultant brought onto an existing franchise that is about the remnants of human civilization versus a global zombie plague (think more World War Z than Walking Dead, where humans still have some cars, planes, boats, etc.).

We want to introduce a third element, like a third species, to the conflict, that presents a threat to human and zombie alike. We ask you for your best idea. What would your idea for that third species be? Be as detailed as you like.

An intelligent "hybrid".

In order to prevent its own death, the virus mutates to create zombies who regain sentience and begin aspiring to create their own society.
