Revision3 Launches iFanboy — New Comic Culture Internet TV Show

Team to Lead The Way In The Fight Against Internet Boredom

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Internet television network Revision3 today announced the debut of iFanboy – audio and video shows for hardcore comic fans and casual pop culture patrons alike. Each week hosts Josh Flanagan, Conor Kilpatrick, and Ron Richards will deliver in-depth interviews with leading comic and graphic novel creators and publishers, as well as everyday comic book fans. Whether it’s remote reporting from the hottest comic book conventions, interviews with the stars of the genre, or in-studio advice on the comic books you should be reading, iFanboy will cover a new topic every week with passion, honesty and humor.
“Comic book pop culture is exploding,” said Ron Richards, one of the hosts of iFanboy. “Our audience ranges from 16 year old kids to physicians in their 40s. While they’re an incredibly diverse group, what they share is their passion for the world of comics and the unique culture that surrounds it. Some of the most popular names in entertainment grew up being fans of comics — from Kevin Smith, director of Clerks and Chasing Amy and writer of the comic book Daredevil — to Joss Whedon, writer of Astonishing X-Men and the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. As the comic fan base and culture grow by leaps and bounds, these fans are looking for a source of irreverent, but seriously fanatic information. That’s what iFanboy delivers.”
Born from the website iFanboy.com in 2000, iFanboy Pick of the Week debuted as an audio podcast in November 2005 and has become a runaway hit on iTunes. The video version of the show, iFanboy, is new. Both shows are produced exclusively by Revision3 and are available at www.revision3.com/ifanboy and via Apple iTunes.
On iFanboy episode one, Flanagan, Kilpatrick, and Richards unveil their picks for the top five graphic novels every fanboy needs to own. In episode two, they interview Brian K. Vaughan — legendary writer and co-creator of the critically acclaimed comic series Y: The Last Man, Runaways, and Ex Machina as well as the recent graphic novel Pride of Baghdad. Vaughan just joined the writing staff of the hit television series, “Lost.” The second episode will be available on January 24, 2007.
“Revision3 is thrilled to be the exclusive distributor of iFanboy properties,” said David Prager, vice president of programming for Revision3. “I’ve been reading X-Men since I was a kid. True fans pour their heart and soul into their favorite characters and books. iFanboy will give us all a window into the comic world we’ve never seen. For our advertisers, iFanboy gives them an opportunity to reach an incredibly wide and desirable demographic. We’re confident the show will be a hit with fans and with visionary advertisers.”
Comic books, graphic novels and associated products represent a market of approximately a quarter of a billion dollars per year. The iFanboy shows will follow the successful Revision3 sponsorship model — sponsor mentions are integrated into each show. The network’s shows don’t include traditional commercials which can be skipped or tuned out. As a result, the Revision3 advertising model has consistently delivered successful results to sponsors since its inception in mid-2005.
On February 23rd iFanboy begins their coverage of New York City Con — one of the largest comic book shows of the year.
