Comics I Think I'm Retiring From Spider-man

Spider-Man 90's animated show was great for the first three seasons. Season one being the best. Season four and five were terrible.

The voice acting was superb from all. Particularly from Spidey, Jameson, Ock, Kingpin, and the Green Goblin.

My major complaint with that show was the over use of the Kingpin. He was in practically every show and involved in every plot. Got really tiresome.

Wasn't a fan of Goblin's voice. Ock was okay, a little too German for my tastes though, but was still pretty good. Kingpin, JJ and Spidey's voice were pretty good though. So was Hobgoblin's, Mark Hamill has the perfect comic character voice, be it the Joker, Hobgoblin or Wolverine from that X2 video game.

I like the '67 Spider-Man cartoons the best, because as someone else said it before, the best ones are the ones you grew up with.

And I grew up on those babies... :word:  :word:

:yay:

Same here, though I'm a little younger than you, it was still pretty much my introduction to Spider-Man. Sure the writing was a little sub par, but the show had heart. Probobly my favotrite characteristic of Jameson is seen on that show and the music has to be the best from any superhero cartoon show.

You had a unique opportunity to watch the show in the 70's & 80's because it was constantly on syndication via Irving's CHSJ, which I would assume you could get in Cape Breton (or Halifax, or wherever you grew up in Nova Scotia). I don't know if the show was being featured as much as it was on Irving's TV station.

My first time watching it was around 1972 on CHSJ... it's how I actually first heard of Spider-Man in my life, and fell in love with the chatacter instantly.

:yay:

SM'67 is my second fav ever show.

Happy new year all!:oldrazz:

Ok, so Civil war has been killing any interest I had in the character as of late, so after I read 537 of amazing, that will be my final issue of amazing.

I hear you... about the Civil War, that is...

Spider-Man 2 ignighted a passion for Spidey in me that has LASTED and expanded. I was inspired to read the comics, from the beginning (love the early stuff) thru the present, as well as watching all the animated versions, from the 60's thru the "New." And everything (even the crappy stuff that made me angry) just seemed to happily feed the "obsession"...

Until the Civil War happened. It has been like a bucket of ice water thrown on my little firey passion... :(

I've tried to figure out why... For ME, it has draaaaaaaaaged on way too long, has been hard to swallow from the get-go, has been irritating in it's convoluted "political statements," has involved TOO MANY other characters that I don't know and frankly don't care about, and Spider-Man doesn't fair nearly as well as he should.

Now I'm hearing rumblings about what JQ has in store for the character... and the spectre of MORE stories veering off in directions I have NO interest in going in, is not helping at all.

I'm not giving up on Spider-Man... I don't think... but I have decided to stop collecting monthly issues and stick to the graphic novels instead. I used to do BOTH. Sigh...

ASIDE - Thank goodness for Smallville... :) it has really taken up the slack and served as my "fantasy fix" here lately. I just discovered the show and have enjoyed working my way through all 5 seasons. (I've even thought about taking a look at Superman comics... but, I doubt they'd have the same appeal...)
