If a prequel or stand-alone trilogy, who would you like to see playing Bats?

I'm just a gigantic fan of Matt Reeves' entries in the Planet of the Apes movies and thought War was one of the best films of the summer. There aren't many directors out there who I would trust to craft a perfect take on Batman.

I also originally loved Ben Affleck for Batman and agree with many who think he's nearly a perfect visual fit for both Bruce and Batman. But after BvS's Murderfleck, who also happened to be a terrible detective, my hopes were dashed and I'm not sure they can be redeemed by JL.

With all the rumors swirling about "The Batman" kicking off a Reeves trilogy that may either be a DCEU prequel series or possibly a standalone under the new banner, I figured a little fan casting thread was in order...

Who would you pick for the role if it came up again? I've always wanted Wentworth Miller for a younger Batman, and Arkham Origins' trailers seems to have almost been based on him. But I'm kind of at a lack for ideas for any other young actors with that kind of gravitas and menace.

I never liked the idea of Affleck as Batman but I was open to it cuz I trust Snyder when it comes to casting and making his actors look good. At the very least I was expecting his performance in the role to be better than Bale's. I thought he was the worst in the film doh and I want them to drop him so bad. He's just awful.

I used to want Wentworth Miller for Batman, I think he could definitely be a great Bruce Wayne. However, Then I pictured Dominic Purcell wearing the Batman Mask and I think He'd be a great Batman. Not so sure how he'd be as Bruce but I think given proper direction "most" actors could do anything.

I think Antony Starr and Frank Grillo would be Ideal Batman/Bruce Wayne for an origin for a reboot. At Least for what I wanna see from a cinematic Batman.

Just thought I'd post this super quick and dirty mockup of Wentworth as a younger Batman... I like the idea of Purcell too, but more as Killer Croc! (If we're lucky enough to get a full on reboot, haha)

Jeez... Image uploading via 3rd party sites has gotten rough since the last time I was on here. I guess I can upload directly?

I could see Michael Scofield as a Year One Bats, if he seriously bulked up. Dominic Purcell, I'm not so sure about.

I do feel like Affleck just has the look down perfectly.

Watched a pretty good, dark, disturbing, mystery serial killler series The Fall on Netflix and the actor who played the killer, Jamie Dornan, seemed like a good Bruce/Batman, also if he packs on a lot of muscle

before Batfleck got cast... for me it was between Affleck and Josh Hartnett (I know he's turned down roles in the past...) I wonder if he would reconsider these days? or for that matter of they would consider him? (given his past objections to this kinda role) or did he already born that bridge

These aren't bad at all. Can you do one of Purcell in the mask, maybe with the longer ears?...I prefer that look.

Iiiiinteresting. Hadn't thought of him. At least we know if he were Batman, his costume would be..... wait for it.... shades of gray!! :cwink:

But seriously, I haven't seen him act, but decided to drop him behind the cowl and was kind of surprised by how good it looks even in a 30 second mockup. By all accounts, he plays a playboy with a secret pretty well in the 50 Shades series, so he's got Bruce Wayne down, and he looks pretty good as Batman. He also could kiiiinda pass as a young Affleck, but he's already 35 so wouldn't be exactly a Year One batman.

Personally, though, I think the idea of doing a younger Batfleck makes no sense unless they are interested in doing more period pieces...
