BvS If Darkseid makes a cameo/after credit scene in BvS... Practical makeup or CGI?

Darkseid in BvS?

DC won't be doing post-credit scenes, mark my words.

And I'll be the one to say mix of practical and CGI. CGI mostly for the giant build and keep the face mostly practical, as it usually looks more natural. Cast Javier Bardem as Darkseid and it would be perfect.

THIS
This exactly.

Javier Bardem as Darkseid would make my life.

Bardem would be perfect.

The face can very easily be done practically with CGI enhancements.
Abe Sapien is a good example of this.

cgi seems to be the easiest but im a fan of motion capture

all i want is Micheal ironside back but that's not gonna happen. no one has come close to his performance yet

I don't think Darkseid needs to be outrageously tall, to be honest. It looks silly to me more often than not.

You should see the New 52 version then.

I think that 6.6 to 7ft tall would not be that ridiculous.

Michael Clarke Duncan was always my pick for Darkseid.

I think he's really the only actor who could have not only voiced but have physically played Darkseid.

RIP MCD.

Most definitely. I loved that man, ever since "The Green Mile".

:csad:

No lie, his performance in Green Mile is my favorite performance by an actor in any movie and it just makes it better with Tom Hanks being in it. Green Mile is my favorite movie of all time and to this day whenever I watch it I still cry multiple times. Such a great movie.

Indeed. It's definitely one of my favorite films and probably my favorite King's book. And, yeah, tears are always there when I watch it as well.

If CGI can do this, I have no issues with Darkseid being CGI.

I think the whole "CGI vs practical effects" thing was more of an issue back during the Star Wars prequel era, but it's really not a contest anymore.

Yeah, well... watch "Hobbit" films and say that again. :oldrazz:

Haha fair point. That was some particularly bad and distracting CGI. I have no doubt if they put a little more care ($$$) into Darkseid though, he'd be fine.

Oh, it surely can be done well, it's just that I would rather avoid that concern altogether by going for the practical makeup when it comes to the face.

I should note that I'm not opposed to practical effects being used at all. It's just a question of how... practical... they actually are at the end of the day. If it's just for a short cameo, I'm not sure what would be easier.

I do know the Thanos grin was definitely pretty cheesy, in large part due to the CGI quality. If they can avoid that feeling, I'm all for it.

Wasn't the Thanos in the A1 post cedit scene praactical though? I could have sworn it was an actor in make up?

Ah, not sure about that one. My bad, I didn't clarify, I was referring to his weird grin in Guardians of the Galaxy, which was CGI/mo-cap afaik.

Maybe it's just the background adding to things here though.

If A1 was practical and they can match/exceed that with Darkseid, by all means practical effects for close-ups sound good.
