would you rather be one that was famous, for well, being famous and for example be the kind of celeb that gets better box office rather than rave from critics

or

would you rather be famous for your talent, not be too well known, and get rave from critics?

The 2nd option...eventually you'll BLOW up! :cwink:

talent (most of the time) will lead to fame.

Of course I'd pick talent. I think I'd have more staying power that way as well.

Co-sign.

People like Depp gained exposure because of their acting, and just happened to be attractive to the females. He got the best of both worlds.

or the dreaded overexposure

Like Jolie or something? I don't see how that would work. Especially with the 2nd option being the one choosing not to overexpose yourself. So a person like that would choose great roles in the name of art and not money/ vanity. But people like that usually get their come-uppings. Great actors who choose great parts, and who have amazing talent will always draw a crowd.

You will, without a doubt, be overexposed choosing the first opiton. Eventually, like, say, Paris Hilton, people are going to be like "WTH is this person doing on T.V.?"

It's basic physics my dear...:meow:

Exactly! Depp is ALWAYS drawing a crowd...that's been proven. So overexposure doens't really apply to the 2nd option, unless you sell-out, which is option 3.

Sometimes you can't help it though. I think Brad Pitt is a great example of this. Yeah he started off as a ladies man, but he consistenty chooses great roles and can back up his big paycheck with skill.

Agree! He got his come-uppings...

JoLiE . . . you're back from your excursion!! I would like to welcome you back with something other than a dirty joke, so I'll keep my mouth shut :D

I would want real talent, than being famous.I would rather be known by a few,who really think i am good, rather than be well known, and have people talking behind my back.

Im seeing a new trend of young people in Hollywood who are not really good actors or actresses but are using money or popularity to get themselfs around. One of them is a hilton something,i dont know her name.

look at paris hilton. her only talent is blowing (hehehehe) and she is really famous.

Ah that is if you movie doesn't tank....
well jolie_mendez specifically stated being famous would earn you more box office cash.

If I was ever famous, I'd like to be famous for my work. Such as a writer or a voice actor. So I could walk down the street and no one would bother me but if they heard my name, they'd be like, yeah I know you.

Like that (rich as hell) guy who voices Elmo. Man never in a million years would I ever guessed he voiced that lil' puppet.

some of my largest heroes.....

Bill Hicks
Mike Watt
Catherine O'Hara
Reeves Gabrels
Steven Puchalski
Andy Kaufman
Tatsuya Nakadai
David Lynch
John Doe

not exactly Tim Allen, Keanu, Jessica Alba or Regis......

I choose......SECOND OPTION!!!!!!

Exactly.
When I was young and dumb I thought it would be cool to live the life of a celebrity but I really enjoy my anonymity.

Second option usually always leads to the first. Only you're famous because of the talent. And I'm totally going to do voice acting, it will be awesome.
