Ok so after what you saw in Iron Man 3, if Kevin Feige declared that there's going to be another Iron Man movie somehow, and that they're going to do the real Mandarin no actors, no prentenders, no facades, how would you do it? How would you bounce back from that?

Had to? I'd love to!

I'd say Killian is shown to have some sort of mental control over his Extremis soldiers and (after being exploded by Pepper) takes over Trevor Slattery's body. So it's Ben Kingsley's Mandarin with Killian's mind.

Haha. We were talking about this a lot when IM3 first came out. It's been a while though. :P

Not with Shane Black, that's for sure.

I'd definitely want an Asian actor in the role. It could be an update just like Wo Fat has been in Hawaii Five-0 where Iron Chef Mark Dacascos is playing the role in a far more layered way than the original 60s version.

Mandarin doesn't have to be a stereotype. There are plenty of ways they could've done it without having to resort to a Fu Manchu moustache.

He certainly could've been far more dangerous and relentless that's for sure, and someone who is full of mystery.

I'd have it revealed that the Mandarin didn't die in the explosion at the end of IM3, but the husk of body that survived was slowly rebuilt by Extremis. He realizes that he must bide his time and gather his resources.

Slowly, but surely, he amasses a wealth of technology...much of it alien in origin. Trevor's guise being Killian's idea in the first place, he comes to don the green dragon robe that inspired so much fear in those televised threats. He also decides to adopt the rings, but infuses them with some of the alien tech that he reversed engineered (perhaps they aren't just simple rings, but more like techno-brass knuckles with wires running from them up his arm and then under his skin, powered by his Extremis energy). He wants to the world to know that the threat of the Mandarin was no hoax perpetrated by a drunken actor...it is very real and very dangerous.

Then he would seek out Tony to finish the fight he started.

I'd have it that Killian had a son with a Chinese woman, who was named temungin. He would then adopt the comic accurate mandarin persona to honor his father.

Id go a different route... Id reveal that AIM stole the Mandarin name and persona from an ancient legend, then tie the ten rings to extraterrestrial tech. The real Mandarin has been imprisoned and events from one of the other franchises inadvertently releases him. Id also have him trying to release Fin Fang Foom. Play it off as tony vs Tech and Physics he doesn't understand....
