That Magneto ranks number 1, above Doom is already problematic. That Osborn, not the Green Goblin is on the list, is also questionable. But Venom topping Ock? And Carnage being on the list at all is pretty freaky.

Sounds like this list was compiled by people who became fans in the 90's...

That Magneto ranks number 1, above Doom is already problematic. That Osborn, not the Green Goblin is on the list, is also questionable. But Venom topping Ock? And Carnage being on the list at all is pretty freaky.

I'm not much for those kind of lists, but those are almost the exact same complaints that I was compiling in my head. Especially the Osborn thing.

I knew i would miss a few. :-( I always think of Kingpin for Daredevil more then i do Spidey. But i guess its fare to for both of them to share him as their main foe.

I discredited the list when they didn't have Doctor Doom as number one. Also, when CATWOMAN, who is barely even a villian makes number 11, and Magneto, who hasn't been relavent since the Grant Morrison New X-Men makes #1, and they actually put Carnage on the list at all, I call shenanigans.

I'll only give them props for NOT putting Joker at number one. I honestly expected him to be, as IGN is all about the latest trends, and everyone thinks Joker is always like he was in Dark Knight, when, truthfully, he is rarely interesting in the comics anymore.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I love Catwoman, but no way should she be at number 11, especially above villains like Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Two Face, Bullseye etc.

Their number one is also off, IMO. Magneto is great, and definitely in the top 5, but I think Joker or Doom deserve the top spot. They're like the definitive comic book villains.

Switch around the first and third and I'm pretty happy with the top 5. Personally, I think Doc Ock should be higher than Venom, but other than that it's a decent list.

Venom ranking higher than Ock?

Norman Osborn? So basically Norman is better without all the Goblin gears and the Goblin costume?

Catwoman ranking higher than Gobby, Ock and Two-Face?

Magneto as #1 and Joker as #2? That's just wrong.

Red Skull deserves to be higher than 14 IMO. Magneto as number 1 is a joke.

Magneto wasn't always portrayed this way. In the beginning, he was just a Standard Supervillain. It was only later that the Holocaust backstory was added (and played up around the same time that he was becoming less villainous, taking over for Xavier at the school, etc.) Without that part of his history, he easily would have been the same kind of character as Doom (Who I think should be #1)

I didn't mind him as a villian at first, but it's the continued thing that just doesn't fit. Joesph was by far the best version of him. By this point he'd be a hero or at least not a supremicist.

I wasn't that into the Joseph stuff, but I did like when he took over for Xavier (actually, I always looked at the Joseph character as a way to sort of get back to that dynamic)

This list has been deemed irrelevant due to the fact that Doctor Octopus is # 28. # 28?! Are you kidding me? One of the most deadly villains in the Marvel Universe gets a freakin' # 28? BAH! Blasphemy!

He probably just made it for Maximum Carnage which was an awesome story arch, and Carnage would be a damn great villian if the people at Marvel would use him right. The are so scared to go in a very dark direction that they leave Carnage on the sidelines. I really wish they would go with a Batman approach when they use Carnage, and just let him go on a rampage, and kill as many people as possible, and let Spidey have a dilemna at the end of arch, but they will never do that.

Good game yes. Comics? hell no, one of the worst.

Because it would suck...and thats essentially what Maximum Carnage was. The best way to handle him is the exact opposite. Instead of senseless rampages, make him act like...hmm gee I dunno a serial killer maybe?

Most deadly? He was a great villain in the 60', or maybe the 70', but he is a joke after that. His fear from Spidey and his resurrection was lame.
His only great point was in the Clone Saga where he saved Peter's life.

Tis your opinion. He is one of the greatest villains in Spidey's rogues gallery and should be way higher on that list.
