With Gone Girl heading into theaters on Friday, why not make a thread dedicated to one of the most talented filmmakers of our time?

Filmography:

Some facts via IMDB:
A founder member of Propaganda Films in 1986.

Was originally set to direct "Mission: Impossible III", but dropped out.

Was originally considered to direct "Spider-Man".

Seven is my favorite of his and one of my favorite movies ever. It only being his second film is insane. I think it's constructed near flawlessly.

When I first watched it, I was so encapsulated. I was like "this was his second film??" Could've fooled me given how competently it was shot. And Se7en is also my favorite of his.

I count Se7en as his first film. Also, he needs to keep putting Brad on the sideline and work with my two other bros, Leo and Joaquin.

That's sort of true, but that only makes it more impressive. Alien 3 is kind of his crash course as a director. It still has the unmistakable style of Fincher's though. Even then he was close to being fully formed.

Fight Club is still in my Top 3 movies of all time.

It was my first Fincher movie and I think my first viewing of it was early 2001-ish on VHS. I was 15 years old.

Uh, the original quote was from Anne Hathaway who said he was like Hitchcock "with an automatic". Cause you know, he makes suspenseful movies that are also huge spectacles. Unlike Fincher. So yeah, bringing that quote up (and misquoting it) was pretty pointless in this thread.

I'm a Fincher fan though. I like a few of his movies a good deal more than the rest, but he's never made a film that I couldn't appreciate on some level.

Fight Club, Se7en, Social Network, and Zodiac are probably somewhere in my top 25 favorite films of all time.

I didn't misquote a goddamn thing. Fincher is the new master of suspense.
The Nolan thread is that way, mane. -------------------->

You brought it up first bud.

There is plenty of room for both of these guys, each is very good at what they do and what they do is very different. Lucky for all of us movie fans, we'll get to experience both sides of that spectrum over the next month.

Yeah, but I did not mean it as a diss, just telling the truth. :o

Leo owns the rights to Devil in The White City...Fincher would be perfect for that.

David Fincher is definitely in my top filmmakers today. Love his style. And his choice of projects he finds and develops. I like that he takes these mystery/serial killer films as serial killers are one of my interests.

Zodiac is probably my favorite film by Fincher. Anytime I'm looking through my library of movies, I always stop at Zodiac and I end up watching it. I don't know how many times I've seen it, but it just captivates me every time. I guess just the mystery of never knowing who the Zodiac was is what grabs me. I wish Fincher would give his take on Jack the Ripper.

The basement scene in Zodiac is frightening. Jack would be too on the nose for Fincher, but if you like for him to take on another serial kill, I think Dicaprio has the perfect script.

I'd actually love to see Leo ACT in a Fincher movie.

I'm still figuring out where Gone Girl ranks among my favorite Fincher films, but I absolutely loved it.

Fincher is absolutely in my top 5 directors. His style is just gorgeous to me.
