I just prefer good old fashioned 2D in my local theater. It's cheap, nearby, and it does the job.
To be completely fair I've never watched a movie in Imax (at least as I recall), and I would sort of like to at least once just for the experience.
As for 3D, I've given it more than a fair chance, I've watched several movies including Doctor Strange, and none of them look 3D to me, just blurry and headache inducing. Maybe I just don't have an eye for it (I hear it doesn't work for some people), but I can't see myself watching any more 3D movies.
I suppose I can't fully judge until I see an Imax movie for myself, but as a general rule I don't really like gimmicks during my movie-going experience. I don't put quite as much stock into grand visuals and spectacle as some people, if the storyline is good I can find just as much enjoyment in watching a movie on a relatively small TV screen as I can in a movie-theater. I've always sort of felt like all the "super-duper crystal-clear HD 4K Blu-Ray 3D" stuff is sort of missing the point of storytelling, just my opinion though.
