In Ghost Rider 2, I'd like to see...

i never read any spawn comics rele. no substance to em. and kinda yea. like how theres diff spawns, like medieval spawn n such there could be like a medieval GR, samurai GR, ninja GR, western GR, n whatever. n there could be just reg ppl becoming GR for diff reasons.

NO SUBSTANCE :cmad:?!!! Hmmp... well I suppose I can't blame you as you've NEVER read them, anyway....

Uh, putting Spawn aside, what's up with the GR-in-a-trench coat? (The concept artwork) Were they planning to use that in the movies? It could just be me but I thought the coat (and the "frowing" skull) made him look a lot bigger and more.... intimidating. Better than the one they used for the film...

i never read em cause of their lack of substance. at least when mcfarlane was writing em. that guy is like the MSJ of comic books. if avi arad and MSJ were to have a child, itd prob be todd mcfarlane.

Controversial Statements

McFarlane's defense of the Image Comics ethic during its early years led to a noteworthy "style versus substance"-themed feud with comic book writer Peter David. McFarlane's assertion was that comic writers were secondary in importance to artwork in terms of commercial success.

This came to a head during a public debate they participated in at Philadelphia's Comicfest convention in November 1993, which was moderated by artist George Perez. The topic of the debate was McFarlane’s claim that Image was not being treated fairly by the media, and by David’s weekly "But I Digress" column in the Comics Buyer's Guide in particular. The three judges, Maggie Thompson, editor of the Comics Buyer's Guide, William Christensen of Wizard press, and John Danovich of the magazine Hero Illustrated, voted 2-0-1 in favor of David, with Danovich voting the debate a tie.

Yeah yeah so PUTTING THAT ASIDE (you made a great point btw), about the trench-coat thing I mentioned earlier: Don't you think designing a more demonic- less human skull for GR looks cooler? I mean, check out the detail in that concept art. I remember MSJ saying they designed the burning skull from Nic Cage's head, himself. Personally though, I would like a more "unique" look. A "frowing" skull would be awesome- just like the style they use in the comics. I'd say IF a future film will ever be made (hopefully by a completely diff. team) have a much bulkier, taller GR (preferably in complete CGI-himself) dressed in Noble Kale suit and that more menacing skull I mentioned, earlier.

Here, check this realistic-looking guy out:

Looks pretty cool, isn't he :yay:? Better than the one we got from the movie, no less. I know it takes a lot of work to pull that off in CGI, but hey- IF we ever wanna see a total new reboot- this is the guy I'd like best to see. :cwink:

I'd like to see the second be more edgy. Have Mephistopheles stabbing people with crucifixes, the forces of heaven using dirty tactics, the effects of Johnny's career being over taking their toll on Johnny so he starts drinking and smoking.

You know, Nolan North did do a great job voicing GR in the video game "Marvel Ultimate Alliance"- and he sounded more human- only in a raspy, grave tone. He talked more BADASS too :woot:! (Yup. Gone were his repetitive babbles from the comics- but a more attitude-esque talk.) I actually think that would suit him better :yay:. I find the growls far too much... annoying.

I thought the growls fit the character perfectly and made him seem more demonic, he is essentially a demon after all!

Isnt that what they are planning to do over the next few years? They have got one team working on continuing JB's story, and another team developing story's about past GR's.

I dont think think drinking and smoking will be introduced now, but the other stuff i would like to see.

AH, OF COURSE! Trail of Tears! Yup, thanks for refreshing my memory :cwink:. So that's why there's a "samurai GR".... Maybe they'll bring him up on one of those stories, someday.....

trail of tears is another garth ennis series. so i doubt its rele meant to be tied in to the current series. just doing it for sales. and that samurai GR was drawn lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng ago, prob just for fun n as a possibility for whatever series. but i doubt theyd use THAT drawing, which sucks cause it looks awesome.

as for GR essentially being a demon. if yer referring to GR in the movie, we dont know what he is yet. they just said he had some fire elemental in him. didnt specify if it was a demon like zarathos or whatever.

and yea that picture of the 90s GR is def cooler looking, at least the outfit is. the skull n flames dont rele look so realistc, at least the flames dont. i rele didnt like GR's gloves in the movie, it had too many spikes on one side and none anywhere else. and if you want a better looking skull than the one they used in the movie take a look at this http://www.deviantart.com/deviation...er&qh=boost:popular+age_sigma:24h+age_scale:5
i found it at deviant art. i wish thats what it looked like in the movie cause nic cage's skull is lame. the nose area holes whatever is too big, the eye sockets werent menacing looking, and the skull was too big most of the time. prob because cage wore a green mask over his head so they could place the cgi skull on him, but they shoulda been able to resize the skull digitally so itd be proportioned to cage's body.

I never liked it when they gave the skull narrow or slanting sockets in the comics, but I have to say that edited picture looks really good. It's been tweaked just enough to make it look meaner. Nice find, CS.

:yay:

yea, i rele love the eye socket alteration. although, i do have to say that what i find best is the resizing of the skull.

That edited skull looks real good. Why couldn't they have done the same thing for the finished movie? All they needed were a few tweaks here-and-there and it was all set......

cause MSJ is lazy. i mean the movie was done being made a year before it was released. they had all that time to notice the skull was a bit off. bahs to msj.

i think that the sequel should be more darker
and Vengance should be the main villian with blackhearth also coming back in full demon form

A while ago I would've suggested the same thing, but now: NO! :cmad: Vengeance & Blackheart OUT! Yes, IT SHOULD BE DARKER, but if anything, just retain the modern spiky-leather look & STOP using plots/characters taken from the DK era (I'm saying this out of respect for DK purists :csad:). I want the Johnny Blaze movies to be based more on the 70's era (with a few references from the new comic), only with an added "modern" twist to capture audiences' tastes. I'm a long-time faithful of the 70's, and therefore I want them to focus more on Johnny's ensuing character development- as he grows to accept his new role as the Rider & learn to master controlling his own powers to be used against evil- based on that era's story.

Here's a part I think would fit the sequel really well (preferably put in the setting): On one night, have JB stumble back into his old home- the Quentin Carnival, now long-since abandoned & left in ruins. He observes & laments the pitiful site as he recalls his own past- the mistakes he committed, & the day he met his "downfall". He looks up to the sky as rain begins to pour down from above (adding a dramatic effect to this sorrowful scene :word:) transforming into the blue-flamed Rider as he roars something like: "WHAAAT HAVE I DOOOOOONE?!!" As he does so, a mysterious figure approaches him from behind..... is it a friend, or a foe?
(Hehe :woot:, I got this idea as I was brainstorming my copy of issue 5 (vol. 5). Added changes, of course :cwink:, but still remaining true to it's "feel". I believe the sequel needs more serious moments like this.)

I want to see Orb back as JB's arch-villain- complete with the same hate-filled relationship they shared in the comics. Include that memorable battle of theirs from classic series (to be used for the climax) where a vengeful GR chases down Orb in an awesome bike race, throws the latter off from his bike (this time with a chain-attack or a shotgun blast) and, fueled by his own lust for revenge, starts pounding on Orb's head viciously & violently- nonstop, NO MERCY! (those who read the 70's know what issue I'm referring to :cwink:), smashing his helmet in the process to reveal Orb for the pathetic criminal that he is. JB prepares the final blow, until he's stopped by....."the friend" (whom this time I want revealed to be the REAL Jesus Christ, to give us the immortal lesson that "just because you have committed many wrongdoings in the past, doesn't mean that God has abandoned you."- making the overall 'feel' of the story more unique & full of heart. And of course, to repair what would've been a great ending to a story arc written by comic legend Tony Isabella :yay:.)

Of course, attaining salvation doesn't necessarily mean that Johnny would have his curse removed. Rather, his spirit would simply be "purified", allowing him access to his power's true potential- like the ability to change form by will (even during daylight hours) & assuming full control of the Rider. This also gives more emphasis on the element of redemption strongly hinted at, BUT NEVER truly explored, in the first film. Finally, this gives us a proper explanation to what Johnny was trying to imply when he made that vow to Mephisto (in the first film), that "I will take this curse, & use it against you". This basically means that he will never be a servant of evil, but an avenger of good; of innocents.

The only other thing, though, that I'd REALLY want them to work on with is REVAMPING Orb's looks to make him more.... "appealing". For all the evil he's capable of, those who remember Orb know that he's just a redsuit-biker guy with a laser gun & a giant eyeball for a head (actually, it was a helmet to cover his ugly, distorted face). I want them to give him a more monstrous, intimidating makeover for the movies- something that makes him "stand-out" more.... like the kind of design that made so many of DK's enemies so cool to begin with.

That would be the way to go. I like your ideas a lot. Though, as you said, there would have to be a major retooling of the orb to bring him into a movie today.
I also think that by the time a another movie comes out there should be some new things from the new series that the movie could be based on.

I've always been a big fan of that Tony Isabell storyline you mentioned and I would love it if they did just what you said, but in this day and time it would never happen, even though it should. To many people are offended by Jesus (I suppose the demons inside them start kicking and screaming when they hear the name) the only way people today wouldn't be offended is if instead of Jesus you had like allah or maybe some unnamed, gender neutral, nonjudgemental, higher intellegence in place of Jesus.

Thanks, Reaper :woot:! Glad you liked it! I'll keep what you said in mind that Jesus' presence should only be hinted at, but not explicitly revealed on film. I'll post the finished script I made on the boards soon. Y'see, as much as the first film bombed, I found one strong element in it that I think is it's ticket to salvation in a sequel: Johnny's redemption. I say a reboot would be too much of a waste for it's potential, so I'm working on my own little script, which, I believe, would fit the 70's story while maintaining the current series' look & style. I know it's silly, but I'm hoping MSJ (or Marvel) would see it & get better ideas of their own... or if not, I just wanna share it with all the guys here, anyway.

First and foremost, a new director. Mark Steven Johnson has pretty much crapped over two potential franchises with his direction. He has no idea what a tone is in a film. It's remarkable that Marvel's producers would even think of letting him do the sequel. He's the poor man's Brett Ratner, and that's not a compliment in any way shape or form

That, and Nicolas Cage is not a good choice. The wig makes him look ridiculous.

Now if you watched the director's cut of Daredevil you know MSJ could actually do a great comic book film. While Ghost Rider could have been better It could worse.MSJ could have done more with a bigger budget.

Agreed, thats why i want him to have a go at the sequel, it would have a bigger budget and more license to go darker.

^MSJ has already stated Roxanne is unlikely to be in any sequel. However, i personally would like her to be there, even if its a small role.
