 i was trying to rent ultraviolet last saturday at movie gallery[i had earned a free rental] i wanted the thatrical version which i could watch with my relatives but all they carried were "unrated extended editions"
why do video clubs do this? cant they carry both theatrical AND UNRATED EDITIONS? i know the store was only following corparte policy sO i don't blame THEM i wish i could understand this:mad:

why couldnt you watch the unrated version with your relatives? there's nothing really even added (no sex or violence anyway)

bigger question: why would you want to rent Ultraviolet?! or subject other people to it, for that matter? :down

another question, why would they call it "unrated" if the sex and violence content is not stronger?

Unrated only means that it wasn't submitted to the ratings board.

I edited my post because it didn't make sense.

Well the "Unrated" version of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5" includes atleast 10-15 mins (mostly of Greta's death because it was so gory) of footage that wasn't shown in theaters because the MPAA told New Line to cut it out of the picture. But unfortunatley the unrated version was only released VHS (which I own) in 1990 and the rated (cut) version is on the DVD.

i felt like renting an allegedly bad movie to see for myself how bad it was
i had always beleved unrated movies contained nudity and such

nope, not always...all unrated means is they didnt put them through the ratings board...so really, if they wanted, they could take footage out of a movie, and release it as the unrated edition, because it wouldnt be rated...and ultraviolet already had an ass shot, even in the rated version...then again, what Milla Jovovich movie DOESNT have an ass shot?

'Unrated' DVDs doesn't mean jack **** nowadays. It's just a marketing ploy to sell more DVDs.

Let's just say it: Milla Jovovich is a ****.

... What's your definition of ****? I know all her nude scenes aren't classy but she is not a ****.

yeah, rarely do they add anything good. I saw the American Pie unrated dvd once and I was pissed. Like, it didn't add anything funny at all. They changed the pie-****ing scene to him humping it on the table, which I thought was nowhere near as funny as when it showed him standing there with the pie.

I can't think of anything really substantial added to the Wedding Crashers dvd.

40 Year-Old Virgin, however, added some funny stuff, plus made certain scenes flow a lot better.
