I don't think they could do some of those things as well mind you.
Exactly. If developers choose to use what's given to them effectively, the Wii offers more precision and control than what's offered on the other two consoles (though I'm eager to see how some games control on PS3.) And as most of us have read so far, we are already seeing that with many of the launch games and many future titles. I don't expect the developers to nail the control right away, though.

Oh for god's sake, don't tell me you're buying into this crap too? Look at the games! It works like a ****ing mouse!
It honestly seems like you haven't researched much into the games (or the controller) yourself. But since you're buying a Wii, I suggest you try to play as many games as you can and then giving us a better, more informed assessment. I've played the Wii, and it offers far, far more versatility than a mouse.
But even if it did work like a mouse, I don't see the problem. It would still be far more effective (and accessible) than a standard controller.

dammit. Most of this nine-page piece of crap, defensive and poorly written article is about the DS.
The rest of the article dealing with the Wii goes wrong in so many places it's hard to see where these "writers" are coming from.
How is it crap? It is merely saying that the Wii, like the DS (and the NES before it), is distruptive console with distruptive technologies. Nintendo's strategy is distruption, not market expansion (though that is one goal, to be sure.) This strategy will have dramatic consequences, either good or bad.
It's certainly more than I can say for some of the Xbox 360 and PS3 cases I've read.

The games industry doesn't even consider Nintendo competition for MS and Sony, they're considered their own little niche brand.
Yes and no. They're creating something different, yes, but not niche. Niche is Xbox 360 and PS3. With the astronomical price tags and impractical, tech-heavy features, these two consoles cater to a niche audience. Wii, on other hand, strives to be mainstream. This is why the Wiimote is what it is. It ditches complex permutations of buttons for a more natural, intuitive interface. It's quicker and easier.
But aren't you a bit late to the party? With all three essentially released, I don't see the point in this type of discussion anymore. Let the consoles and the games speak for themselves.
EDIT: I might add, that right out of the gate, the Wii has the best game of all time. Can Gears of War or Resitance: Fall of Man take claim to that too? Certainly not.
