You mean heroes in general? I think you can definitely work on some different takes of old ideas, but you can't expect much originality.

Yeah, pretty much...I was thinking of a hero with a symbiote-esque suit. Are you familiar with the Cthulhu mythos? Many of the beings there are vast, amorphous things dripping with ectoplasmic slime. My character was going to be attacked by some such slime and it would bond with him.

Mythos baddies abound.

All worthwhile powers and abilities taken. Most good names taken. Good motifs, origin stories, motives, themes, not taken.
