1) Who is The Mandarin
2) Who exactly is Jeff Bridges playing.

Why would they not annouce him but annouce everyone else...Why would the casting of the Mandarin need to be withheld. Feige said the same thing weeks ago that all major roles were filled. So why hold back the news unless there's a twist we don't expect. Or an actor we don't expect.

But what gets me is, if there is a twist, they have already let on there is a twist by not mentioning who Bridges will be playing! It makes no sense. At least for BB, Neeson was cast as Ducard and then later on we found out he in fact was really Ra's. But here right off the bat we know there is something fishy with Bridges character. And I definitely think there is something fishy as they would have just flat out announced who he was playing if there wasn't. So basically, they already screwed themselves over if they plan on doing some twist because now we are already expecting it.

gwynyth paltrowi is playing Jarvis the Butler... slick casting, making things more up to date and hip... make the butler a female... it makes things spicier and more hip

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that maybe they are trying to conduct some sort of marketing campaign by keeping the villains casting secret.

JON FAVREAU: Rhodey (James Rhodes), Pepper Potts, Obadiah Stane... those are the core.

I've settled on Bridges as Stane, and it would appear they've retooled his character along with most of the rest of the supporting cast.

edit: sorry, I forgot to mention this... my guess as to why they haven't confirmed Bridges' identity is because the details Feige released about his character don't gibe with Stane's backstory, and they may have been trying to avoid a noisy fan backlash.

I still believe that Jeff Bridges is playing Obidiah Stane, with a unknown playing Mandarin, simply because of the casting call,when there looking for a character named Gene Kahn, Mandarin uses that name as his alias, maybe Shaun Toub will play Mandarin.

In my heart, I believe these guys will actually hire a real, live Chinese guy to play the Mandarin (Kahn). There's a few M-E roles that Toub would fit better into. IMO

I didn't know that about Gene Kahn, that's interesting. If that is the case, then my money is on Bridges playing Howard Stark. Don't know why they would keep that a secret though. I seriously doubt Shaun Toub will be playing the Mandarin. Some have suggested Toub will be the individual that helps Stark build his first suit of armor when in captivity, I agree with this.

Just because they didn't announce who Jeff Bridges is playing doesnt' mean it's some kind of mystery. Afterall, they didn't announce who Shaun Toub is playing either, did they? Wait! Lemme guess, they're both secretly playing The Mandarin?! Maybe we'll meet these two guys, then learn that they're both actually Mandarin and he's a shapeshifter!! It's the only thing that makes sense!!

I'm kidding, btw.
