Is Dynex a good brand?

I have a 32 inch Dynex tv that i use as a monitor for my pc and i haven't had any problems with it at all the screen resolution goes up to 1080p and the picture quality is pretty good.

First of all, they are the least reliable in terms of how long they lost. Secondly, they have 0 outstanding features besides the low prices. Their technology is always way behind (because they are built from refurbished old TVs), and their interiors are all mismatched (again because they are refurbished - them being refurbished is also why - GENERALLY - they die out pretty quickly). Their contrast ratio and refresh rates are also garbage.
Honestly, just pay the extra bit and get a better TV. Here's how I'd rate it:

Value:
Toshiba LCD

Up to 27":
Acer LED (Monitor)

36":
Pointless - either go for a 27" (to use as a monitor) or just go with a 40/42"

40-50":
Samsung LED

50-65":
Panasonic Plasma

70-80":
Sharp LED

If you're going to buy some random monitor cable or something, they're fine. When it comes to TV and Blu-Ray players, spend a little more and get a more reliable brand like Samsung or Sony.

I was definitely thinking of getting a Sony, but Best Buy is selling the Dynex Blu-Ray player so cheap that it's tempting. It costs $60 and comes with built-in wi-fi.

Yeah but I would have my doubts about the quality. Both the picture and wifi. You could probably get a Samsung for $20-30 more with the same specs. I'd even go with an LG over Dynex honestly.

EDIT: I see the Dynex player you're talking about on the Best Buy website. It's gotten relatively good reviews it seems. For $60 it might be worth the gamble.

The biggest complain seems to be that it makes too much noise.

Terrible. I worked for Best Buy and the amount of unsatisfied customers coming back with those was huge. You don't want anything from them, trust me. Especially not hi-def TVs. Probably not blu-rays either. Spend a bit more and buy something that'll last a lot longer.

Aren't they Best Buy's model? I've never heard good thing about Dynex in any way. When it comes to electronics you get what you pay for. Always do research in what you are looking to buy and check reviews on reputable sites.

I'm a fan of Panasonic's Blu-Ray players myself.

Yes it is Best Buy's personal model, but it is also the most bargain brand name offered. If you're just buying cables, like someone said up there, it's ok since there isn't much to differentiate high-end cables from low-end ones, but for everything else, avoid dynex.

I personally would go with Samsung or Sony for a blu ray player and tv's

I use the HDMI cables form Dynex. They do the job.

And I swear by Samsung TVs.

Really, when it comes to TV's and Blu-ray players you can't go wrong these days with the top brands. Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba are all good in their own right. I'm a Sony guy myself when it comes to home entertainment. My whole life since I was a kid, Sony has been it.

I've had a Panasonic DVD player for almost 10 years and it has worked beautifully.

I bought a used Sony DVD player back in 2001 that I gave to my mother in law at the time years ago and it still works great.

When it comes to TV's I love my LG 55" LED LCD. The picture quality is amazing. I love my Panasonic BD player.
Receivers - I liked my Pioneer's, but when I had my Onkyo it was amazing sound. I'm back to Pioneer now after my apartment flooded and it ruined my Onkyo. The Pioneer is good, but I can't really test it out since I don't want to offend the neighbors.

I've had a 42" Dynex 1080 LCD TV for 3 years now. Never had any problems with it, works great.
