For the last 5 years, Fox has easily been the most hated of movie studios. Most of the movies they made were crap, and when they got their hands on a good movie they'd do their darnedest to make sure that the version released was crappier. Howevever, with the coming of Avatar, 2010 and beyond are looking surprisingly better for them.

Avatar is a friggin' big hit, and Fox took a fairly hands-off approach to it in spite of its rather bloated budget and untested IP. They just recently let loose a trailer for the A-Team movie, which looks surprisingly competent in its execution. There's also talk of doing an Alien prequel with involvement from Ridley Scott and possibly even James Cameron. They're also releasing the new Narnia movie, although that's still a question mark since production has been a bit quiet.

So, do you think Fox might be trying to change its ways from being a low-budget schlock house to rejoin the league of their peers, or is it too soon to tell?

I think it is a possibility.

They have been trounced by the other big studio's in recent years.

Avatar just made them a billion dollars and they didn't interfere.

Re-hiring Ridley Scott for a new Alien film.

Re-hiring Bryan Singer for the new X-Men movie

Getting Robert Rodriguez on board for Predators and giving him complete creative control

Hiring the PERFECT guys to write the Deadpool script.

Tom Rothman now in charge of Searchlight and Fox TV and not 20th Century any more.

I guess time will tell.

Yeah. The A-Team might as well be G.I Joe 2. Narnia's their attempt at catering to the large Christian audience but it'll definitely be a downgrade from the Disney films. If anything, Fox is learning more from Alvin & the Chipmunks than Avatar.

They've made some pretty cool decisions lately but it's still waaaay too early for me to give them enough credit to say they're turning over a new leaf.

Ehh... anything is possible, but I doubt it.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Sometimes all these great decisions recently just say to me that Fox wants to keep us happy by bringing the original guys back to do everything and don't have enough faith to bring in new and actually talented filmmakers and writers in.

Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked as hell to hear Scott and Singer returning, but it was alway a little iffy to me.

Hmm you might be right. But Scott, Singer and Rodriguez are good at what they do in my book. Plus like I said, I don't think there is anyone more perfect to write a Deadpool script than the Zombieland guys. Apart from Joe Kelly or Gail Simone!

i hope they are changing ways but only time will tell.

I'm suprised at the OP. A good trailer does not make a good film. Fox has always been good at making trailers but terrible at making films. Just because one film is out that made alot of money (Avatar) , it does not mean Fox has turned over a new leaf. They need more time and more good films before their sins are absolved.

Avatar is 100% Camaron. He just sai Fox to shut up and trust him, since his previous movies was Titanic.

Early to say something about A-Team. I like couple of cast choose, but i i dunno. GI JOE was a piece of crap, unbelivable terrible movie. Wolverine wasnt good either.

I still don't trust them . They are capable of producing some good films but this won't turn over a new leaf it will just keep them afloat.

Joe was better than Wolverine. At least I got what I expected from it.

If Fox can rewind back to the good old years you never know...

They were once a decent studio.

I know it's sad. It just shows how far down the ****ter Wolverine was thrown.

I am Sorry but, Avatar was a complete and utter failure on Foxs part! they have to get their act together and try harder next time so that Great and Beautiful movies like Avatar aren't slipped through the cracks and made into a smash hit ever again! *catches breath* :cmad:

Who wants another movie that people actually fall in love with anyways!?! surely not FOX !!!!;)
